What will They Unwrap?

Welcome to the 168th week
of My Sexy Saturday!

my-sexy-saturday-header

This week’s theme is My Sexy Holidays. We think Mack and Carol Walker are definitely headed for a sexy holiday… Their story will be released December 3 at Extasy Books, where there’ll be a Stocking Stuffer short story every day until Christmas!

3-thegiftexchange6432-x-658

It’s Christmas Eve—
what gifts will Mack, Carol and Tara
unwrap together?

Here are the opening seven paragraphs:

“Life doesn’t get much better than this.” Mack Walker hugged his wife closer as they gazed at the blanket of stars enshrouding the crisp northern Minnesota night.

Carol playfully splashed heated water at her husband before sliding her hand down toward his crotch. “We could make it even better. I love our privacy. No one can see our hot tub.”

Mack chuckled. “They’d have to be nearly on top of us with night vision goggles. Our closest neighbor is half a mile away.”

“If they get that close, they might be wanting to join us for a little fun.” She squeezed his lengthening cock.

He tugged at her nipple. “Fantasies. Fantasies. But such talk does always gets us going. Your wild side comes out when you think about another couple joining us.”

“And you like my wild side.”

“Very much.”

Annabeth Leong on Tour ~ Five Ways to have Werewolf Sex

Five Ways to Have Werewolf Sex By Annabeth Leong

Thanks so much for kicking off this blog tour! I love the “Stay Sexy” series you guys do, so I wanted to offer something on a similar theme. Hence, my tips on how to have werewolf sex in the comfort of your own home.

When I close my eyes and summon the phrase “werewolf sex,” I’m flooded with sensory details. Growls, crunching leaves, the smells of tree bark and damp earth, claws tearing, and teeth snapping. To me, werewolf sex is primal, unbridled, and passionate.

Maybe it helps to be supernatural, but I don’t believe a couple has to be able to grow fur and fangs to experience that sort of primal passion. Really, I think werewolf sex is about letting go of inhibitions and going for it. In that spirit, here are five suggestions for how to let loose.

1. Get a little rough

The werewolf characters I write bite and claw and fling each other from one side of the wildlife preserve to the other. They chase each other and leap on each other and battle for supremacy. While supernaturals can give and get more of that than mere mortals, any couple can infuse a little of that fighting spirit into their sex life. Teeth and fingernails might be fun. It also might be fun to roll your partner over in the middle of the act to take over the dominant position (this works best in a larger bed, of course). You could also drag the other person to the bedroom, or straight to the floor.

Which brings me to my next suggestion:

2. Get out of the bedroom

Beds are nice, but werewolves don’t limit themselves to such a civilized location. If you’re up for an outdoor adventure, by all means, enjoy. If that’s a little much, try the kitchen table or the living room couch or the room where you hang your coats. The change of scenery will make the sex feel wilder.

3. Howl at the moon

At a workshop I attended once, an instructor had everyone start moaning like they were about to come. It felt cheesy at first, but before long I got aroused for real. Making some noise in bed can make sex more exciting for everyone involved. I like to know I’m turning my partner on, so I love to hear noises, and I know the feeling is mutual. Try throwing your head back and letting out a howl of pleasure.

4. Get sweaty

Sex at its most primal is messy. It’s sweaty, it’s slippery, and it smells up a room. It can be a lot of fun to embrace this quality, to ride your partner until sweat rolls off your forehead. (I understand from previous posts on this site that this can be good exercise, too.) Enjoy the scents, the exhaustion, and the pure physical pleasure of moving together.

5. Communicate

While it might be fun to unexpectedly grab your partner and initiate a session of werewolf sex, it’s a good idea to make sure you’re on the same page before trying new things. Your partner may love to get bitten, or may hate the very thought of teeth, so it’s nice to ask first. If you want to maintain the sense of spontaneity, have the discussion several days before you have the werewolf sex. It’s also helpful to check in afterward to discuss what you liked or didn’t like.

To inspire your explorations, I’ll include a short sample from my new book, Not the Leader of the Pack.

Excerpt

Neil’s eyes burned down into hers, inflected with yellow now. “Do you want this?” He thrust his hips forward. Juli thought about breaking away from him, but could not stop the answering moan that rose to her lips. He responded with a triumphant and toothy smile.

“Neil, we need to talk about this more before we do anything.”

“No more talking.” He bent closer. The beast within her answered the wildness she felt from him. It rose to the surface, and Juli knew rational thought would be lost to her very, very soon.

“Neil.” She swallowed hard. “I can’t control myself. I’m going to shift.”

He gave a satisfied growl in reply. “We’ll both shift.”

“That’s mating, Neil. We’re only allowed one shift within the time 24 hours before or after the moon’s fullest point. We can’t—”

“No more legal talk. Just tell me if I can kiss you or not, Juli. Please.” His fingers felt hairy.

Juli’s body trembled. She had to say no before desire got the better of them both. She tried to form the beginning sound of the word, but when she opened her mouth, an unnaturally long tongue rolled out. She needed to taste Neil’s skin before she did anything else. She leaned forward and licked him under the chin, then down the side of his neck. He tasted like rum-spiced salt, and she needed more. She licked down the other side of his neck, her tongue beginning to tease the collar of his shirt.

Neil threw back his head and howled. The sound split the tension of the night, and all manner of things seemed about to burst forth. Juli shivered. She came briefly to herself again. This was her last chance. She could run away now, but if she stayed even another second she would take every bit of him that she could get. She tried to form that word again, but then her lips seemed perfectly shaped to kiss him.

Her fingers shook with the effort of resisting the urge to touch, to grip, to claw.

“Juli, does this mean yes?” Neil sounded almost broken.

Juli tried to gather the strength to tell him what it really meant, but then she felt the beast again, closer than ever. But not closer, it reminded her. Part of her. A part that would not be denied, not here before the man she wanted, and certainly not now beneath the nearly full moon. She saw the two of them from a new perspective, animals alive with need and free to sate it. The only word she could manage after that was, “Yes.”

Blurb

Rival alphas Juli Gunby and Neil Statham want to tear each other apart — but will they do it in battle or as mates?

When Juli Gunby left Missoula, Montana, she didn’t intend to come back. Not to her exacting alpha werewolf father, and certainly not to Neil Statham, the beta who rejected Juli’s girlish advances. Her father, as usual, has other ideas, using his dying breath to pass pack leadership to his daughter. Juli resolves to carry out her duty to her father and her pack, but the one man she wants on her side has made himself her enemy.

After years of loyal service to the pack, Neil expects to take over as alpha when his mentor dies. As good as it is to see Juli again, he knows he can’t trust her. After all, she abandoned both him and the pack years ago and never looked back. Neil determines to fight for his rightful position in the pack, even if that means going up against a woman who fills him with an overwhelming urge to mate every time she walks into the room.

Someone needs to lead, and the more Neil and Juli fight, the more they attract interference from those who would control the pack and destroy the ties between them.

A Sexy Workout Fave

Here’s one for all you baby boomers out there. I was thrilled in 2012 to shed those final few pounds and reach the weight I enjoyed in my twenties, pre-pregnancy. Did I mention said son is now over thirty? So it’s been a while, and as any baby boomer will tell you, it’s not arranged in quite the same way, even though I’ve never not worked out. I have wonderfully strong abs, snazzy legs – and love handles at my waist, in spite of everything.

But I found the perfect move to whip them into shape, courtesy of Beyonce and Women’s Health Magazine: Side planks with knee tuck twist. Caveat – I am not a trainer, so if you want to do this move, go to the Workout Link and do exactly as they say! Essentially, the move is a side plank, upper arm bent at the elbow with hand on head, in which the lower leg comes forward in a knee tuck while the torso and upper arm bend so the elbow reaches toward the moving knee. Got that? Look it up :)! According to the instructions I read, Beyonce does ten reps on each side, three sets.

I lay on the floor on my side as instructed, bent my lower arm at the elbow and placed that forearm on the floor, raised my torso until my weight was only supported by my forearm and my feet – and promptly rolled forward, falling out of the plank. This, in spite of years of regular cardio workouts and occasional yoga. Definitely some muscles in need of a new workout!

So the first hurdle was strength and balance. Needless to say, once I got the balance thing figured out, adding the knee tuck (never mind the torso bend!) immediately rolled me forward flat on the floor again. Or sometimes, backwards. Three sets of ten reps? Not gonna happen.

Start small is my main motto – and truly, that is what I did. My first day, just getting one rep accomplished on each side was a major miracle. I wisely skipped the next day. Day three – still just one on each side. Day five I was finally able to bump it up to two. And so it went, a little more each day, until I could crank out a full ten reps on each side without falling out of the plank.

Am I there yet? Way improved – and in any case, it’s a process. But when I put on my low-rise jeans, that irritating roll of flab over the belt is missing, so I’m happy, and that’s motivation to keep at it.

One more thing: Did you notice my main motivation for adding this routine to my workout was vanity? Guess what – it doesn’t matter what it takes to get you started on something that’s good for you. Turns out this routine has fabulous payoff in the bedroom! It works your obliques and strengthens your core, so you’ll experience improved stamina, not to mention better Kegel squeeze power. And yes, my husband noticed – he loves it. Try it out – your sex life will be glad you did.

What’s your favorite workout move? We’d love to hear about it.

Have fun – and Stay Sexy!

Hump Day Hook ~ Full Circle #HDH #poledancer

Here’s a different take on a superb form of aerobic exercise! We were talking on Sunday in our Stay Sexy column about the power of aerobic exercise to keep us supple, healthy, and sexy – so I got to thinking, which of our characters had the best workout routine? I’m thinking Barb, in Full Circle. Here’s the blurb, and a snippet from the opening pages:

BLURB

Exotic dancer Barbra Atkins has spent ten years carefully choreographing every step of her meteoric rise to success on the private club circuit. Now it’s payback time for the two college roommates who didn’t have time for their nerdy classmate ~ add three strapping spectacular hunks to the mix, and revenge can be so sweet!

Full Circle

EXCERPT

The Three of Cups:

Bounty, abundance, celebration, fruition…
all have come full circle

CHAPTER ONE

The sheer shock on the faces of her former college roommates proved more satisfying than Barbra Atkins had even dared hope. Tingling, she blew kisses at the rest of her audience, mainly men but with a nice smattering of women present.

Her fans began chanting Tam-my, Tam-my, Tam-my—her stage name. She stretched to her full height, rising on the toes of her high heels, lifting her long curls off her shoulders, knowing full well how that simple gesture accentuated her breasts. Without checking, she knew her nipples had swollen to nearly twice their normal size and jutted against the sheer peignoir top, suggesting a little mystery. Many of her fans didn’t care about mystery. Barb blew another series of kisses and rotated her hips. A little mystery fed the fantasies, bringing her customers back for more, encouraging larger tips, and generating more lap dance opportunities than she could fit in between dance numbers.

She’d honed every move of the body, every glint of the eye, every twist of the smile to enhance the fantasy. She’d studied hours and hours of tapes of her routines and had rearranged them with a critical eye. Grinning at a beefy man waving a fist full of bills, she danced confidently toward him, knowing that she’d left little if anything to chance.

It was her attention to detail, her work ethic, and her desire that had made her one of most highly sought after exotic dancers on the national private club circuit. She peered out through the haze at her former roommates, Ruth Nelson and Desiree Rogers, who clearly remained thunderstruck to see their former shy and somewhat nerdy roommate confidently turning on a room full of men and women.

Stay Sexy: The sexiest thing you can ever do…

…is get your heart rate up there!

Okay, so you already know being sexy probably has to involve our hearts – we want to be sexy with the person we give our heart to, right? And after all, this week is Valentine’s Day, so talking about our hearts is a natural.

But here’s the thing: elevating our heart rate into that aerobic target zone, even a little bit, does something magical for both our bodies and our brains. Turns out it helps us be both more desirable and more interested in being sexy!

Body-wise, it helps us burn fat (and, if you saw our Stay Sexy column last week, you know having sex burns as many calories as lots of other forms of exercise). Plus, there’s more, according to the Mayo Clinic. It makes our metabolism more efficient. It’ll improve our stamina, in case we’re aiming for a marathon session. It reduces pain – maybe that’s why my migraine episodes decreased as my workouts increased. I’ll take it! It revs up our immune system, reducing our likelihood of getting sick. And, naturally, it’s good for our hearts. It strengthens the heart muscles and helps clear out our arteries by boosting our HDL cholesterol (the good kind).

Did that list sound sexy? Not so much, by itself – but even just sticking with what it does for the body, I’ll look better, feel better and live longer, and that’s sexy.

The brain magic is even more impressive – and less well known. According to Dr. John Ratey, in Spark, spending time in our target heart rate zone decreases depression, reduces anxiety, relieves stress, decreases dementia in later life, and even increases our brain capacity. Personally, I think that’s very sexy – I’ll be happier, more relaxed, smarter, and possibly even more inventive!

I hope this list of benefits has piqued your curiosity – I’d love to answer questions about how all this works (see, I told you it makes us smarter 🙂 ). Stay tuned – in future Stay Sexy columns, we’ll be sharing more personally about the impact this information has had for both my husband and myself.

In the meantime – Happy Valentine’s Day, have fun, and stay sexy!

Stay Sexy!

Announcing our launch of a new weekly column, Stay Sexy, where we’ll bring you everything we’ve learned about staying sexy and healthy.

Stay Sexy!

What comes to your mind when you see those words? For me, it’s about staying vibrant, healthy, excited about my partner, open to new experiences, creating variety…and, oh yeah, writing the erotic romance for two, three, or more that hubs and I so enjoy.

It’s hard for me to separate what we do from who we are. We invest a great amount of time and energy in staying active and healthy. Our activities feed our writing, and our writing definitely feeds our activities!

By now you readers know he and I are both baby boomers, that special group of folks born between 1946 and 1964. I’m not saying exactly when, but we’re not the youngest members of the cohort. If you’re younger than us boomers, you may not have run into many of the health challenges we face as we age – but, the more you stay fit and sexy in your youth, the fewer preventable problems you will face. It goes without saying, the better your sex life will be in your fifties and sixties!

For all the above reasons, tomorrow we’re launching a weekly feature on our blog aimed at sharing tips we’ve learned along the way for keeping vibrant, healthy, excited and sexy across the life cycle. We’re calling it Stay Sexy, and we’ll be running it every Sunday.

We’ll continue to scour the web for new information, tips and resources and bring you the best ones that catch our eye. Sometimes we’ll simply share something that happened to us and what we’ve learned from it. And we’ll be reaching into the romance writers’ community, featuring interviews with some of your favorite authors who are also on the road to fitness and health.

It’s all about one of our tag lines, Hot Sex at Any (Legal) Age. We love to write it, we love to read it, and we hope to embody it. We’re excited to be sharing that journey in this new way with you, our readers.

Be sure to check us out tomorrow, February 3, when we get behind the so-called myth: does sex burn a lot of calories or not?

Stay sexy!

Ask the Sex Expert!

Do you think of yourself as an expert? Apparently Mr. Tweet thinks I’m an expert in Erotica – here’s the message he sent me a couple months ago: “Hi Adriana! You are invited to the Erotica community because members nominated you as an expert they’d love to hear from.”

Sounds enticing! I’m happy to claim being an expert on many aspects of sex and erotica – what turns me on, what fantasies I can’t resist, what I love to read – and these are the elements my husband and I take pains to put into the stories we write under our pen name Adriana Kraft. We hope you find them as entertaining and tantalizing as we do!

If you’re tempted to turn some of those fantasies into reality?? Hubby and I aren’t the experts here, and we don’t run an advice column, but we’ve found the perfect source for you: Ask Dan and Jennifer! Have you run into them? I found them on line when we were talking to friends about Swinging Games, our Extasy series on the Swing Lifestyle. I Googled some swing terms to demonstrate the range of what’s out there – and up popped a video of Dan and Jennifer explaining how one half of a married couple could start the conversation about swinging without being threatening or scaring the other partner into the next universe. Very nicely done, I might add!

So we thought it would be fun to give our readers a taste of some of the expertise Dan and Jennifer have to offer. Here’s one of my favorites: How to find your swinging comfort zone:

Here’s a little more about them, from their website: “Ask Dan & Jennifer is a very popular and respected Love & Sex web show, advice column, online magazine, and relationship support community.”

Their mission? “We will answer your questions openly, honestly, and without bias or judgment. Question Everything! Our mission is to help people create conscious relationships based on love and acceptance rather than fear, jealousy, anger, and ownership. It’s time to move on from outdated ideas about love and sex.” Sounds a lot like our mission, and we heartily applaud!

The Cougar Image – Positive or Negative?

When author/editor Jolie DuPre conceptualized The Cougar Book and put out her call for submissions over a year ago, both halves of Adriana were thrilled. We knew immediately we wanted to be in that book and we had no problem coming up with our fantasy of a perfect evening for an older woman’s first time out with a stunning younger man. We’re proud to have made the cut – our story, “A Taste of Ginger,” is one of the twenty-two stories finally selected for the anthology, released on Valentine’s Day 2010 at Logical Lust and available in both print and e-book.

We’ve never hesitated celebrating the powerful and enticing imagery we associate with the image of the cougar. In the words of The Cougar Book’s introduction by Valerie Gibson, Canadian TV personality and author, cougars are

“skilled—and creative—in the sexual arts . . .They love to make love and enjoy it for what it is—a joyful, satisfying, energizing, and life-enhancing activity that keeps you youthful and vital. What’s more, it’s fun! It’s a rare and precious attribute for any woman, but when it comes with enthusiasm and few strings attached? Priceless!”

Both of us are also longtime fans of TV and film star Kim Cattrall. In her role as “Samantha” in Sex and the City and in her personal life, she epitomizes the positive qualities we associate with “cougar.” Through her books and many personal appearances she continues to encourage women to embrace their lives, their bodies and their sexuality. Some quotes:

Asked by Amazon.com to explain what she means by sexual intelligence: “A person who knows what they like! And has some idea why … I used the word intelligence in the title of the book and the documentary because it reflects my desire to gather whatever insights, inspirations, and information that could nourish the part of us that is sexual and sensual, so that it might be strong and function well.”

In a recent interview for TheaterMania.com promoting Sex and the City II: “We have encouraged a lot of women to change the way they feel about being single, about having cancer, being lonely, and I think that’s a powerful thing in this era of post-feminism. I think we have helped to find what it is to be successful, smart, and feminine.”

But it turns out she – and many others – think the term is derogatory and the cougar trend is on its way out. PopEater.com puts it this way in Saying goodbye to the Cougar Trend:

“And so now it looks like we’re going to have to look at Pfeiffer, Cox, Cattrall and other aging actress for what they really are: confident, successful women whose talent has kept them in the spotlight beyond an arbitrary media-determined sell-by date. Rather than agree to hide behind some sort of cartoon send-up of what an attractive older woman is, these ladies are redefining how we see life after you spot that first wrinkle.”

Cattrall recently turned down a cover spot on a major women’s magazine because they wanted her to pose with a cougar – and to her, that term and that imagery are derogatory. She told Extra “I really take umbrage to the code ‘cougar’ …I think cougar has a negative connotation, and I don’t see anything negative about Samantha and her sexuality, sensuality and choice.” Over at The Today Show in an interview with Meredith Viera she clarified, “I feel there is nothing predatory about a woman of a certain age. The stereotype is that the woman is searching for young men like they’re prey, and I just don’t think that’s good enough.”

We’ve received lots of positive comments from readers who are inspired by the cougar concept and love the fantasies, so we’re curious – what does the cougar image mean to YOU? Positive or negative, celebratory or derogatory, powerful or demeaning? Eager to hear from you!

Hot Swinging Stories for the Sexually Fluid!

Here’s a fascinating quote from a blog about a Scientific American research article on bisexuality: “Interestingly, [the author] also found that as women age, they become more aware of their sexual fluidity, and thus tend to turn more toward bisexuality than away from it.”

That would definitely be true at our house, where we discovered a few years back that both of us love to read f/f erotic scenes as well as sizzling m/f scenes. It wasn’t much of a leap from reading them to writing them – and once we’d opened up that possibility, new ones beckoned: three-way, four-way and more, in all sorts of combinations, crafted for heightened erotic excitement. Writing them is a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it!

For sure it’s true in the home of Jennifer Andrews, heroine of our Swinging Games series at Extasy Books. Discovering her bisexuality is the main reason Jen and her husband ventured into the swinging world at mid life. Reviewers at Whipped Cream, San Diego Erotica Books Examiner and Fallen Angels Reviews all agree the series is a smashing success!

SWINGINGGAMES

San Diego Erotica Books Examiner  – Four Stars!

This is a sexual tale of a woman named Jennifer, who discovers after many years of marriage that she is bisexual. Her husband Brett, is more than happy to indulge her by getting into the swing of things. This story is hot … imagination takes on a life of its own. Don’t let this one pass you by. Excerpt

hookupsFallen Angel Reviews  – Five Angels!

Hookups is a fun quick read full of sexual fantasies, lust and passion. If Adriana Kraft writes to entertain, she has succeeded with Hookups… While the sex scenes are explicit, Ms. Kraft handles the content well. She has managed to write a unique love story with a twist. The characters are well rounded, each with their own idiosyncrasies that endear them to the reader. I’m interested to see if we are going to find out more about Jen and Brett and their band of merry swingers; I hope so. Excerpt

ATEMPTINGTASTE

Whipped Cream Reviews  – Four Cherries!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading A Tempting Taste Swinging Games 2. The title pretty much summarized the premise, but my oh my, did I underestimate just how scorching hot those next seventy or so pages were going to be!…Brett and Jen are not your typical gorgeous twenty or thirty-year olds. They are in their fifties, and some of their “partners” are older than that. It was also refreshing to read, and is something that is rarely found…This is something you read when you want straight up hotness, because there is plenty to go around! Excerpt

The next installment in the series will be out in just two weeks, on November 15:

What happens when the neighbors find out? Jen and Brett Andrews’ swinging world turns upside down when it comes too close to home – will their friends keep their secret? Will they have to stop swinging, or worse yet, move? What if the friends want to join in? Delectable complexities unfold as Jen and Brett continue their swinging adventures!

Here’s an excerpt to whet your appetite:

“Most every time I try to fall asleep I think of you with another woman.” Donna slanted a finger across Jen’s lips. “Please, I have to tell you. I admit I’m so jealous. I’ve dreamed about us together before. I hadn’t had that dream for years until recently. Then I’d wake up feeling so guilty I didn’t know if I could face you. Now I wake up soaking wet, certain we’ve been making love for hours and that you left before I could awaken fully.”

“But…”

Donna’s finger slipped into Jen’s open mouth.

Was it reflex, instinct or lust? With her eyelids closed, Jen didn’t spend much time trying to explain why she was suddenly sucking Donna’s finger deeper into her mouth.

“That feels so good,” Donna cooed.

Jen heard Donna scooting closer. She kept her eyes closed hoping not to frighten or encourage her friend. She felt Donna’s warm breath on her cheek. And then her best friend’s lips brushed against the corner of Jen’s mouth.

Interview with Swinger and Coach Chantelle Austin

In our just released erotic romance Colors of the Night, we’ve invented a timeless love goddess named Aria who comes to visit a troubled married couple and coach their relationship until the fire re-ignites and blazes so intensely she knows they can keep it burning without her.

Little did we imagine that similar coaching might be available in this reality! Chantelle Austin is an Australian life coach, swinger and author of The Ultimate Swingers Guide. She runs a website that’s packed with useful articles on swinging as well as an advice column on spicing up your marriage. Recently we caught up with her for an interview:

You’re a combination life coach and swinger – could you tell us which came first, and what inspired you to combine the two?

Officially the coaching first J.  While we dabbled a little with a threesome early on in our relationship, there was really only a small handful of experiences.  It wasn’t until I was doing massive amounts of personal development and NLP training that we started to get into it more.  I think having done so much work on myself gave me the tools to help my husband, and consequently us as a couple, smoothly move into this new relationship dynamic.

It took me a while to work out that I could combine the two actually!  Part of my journey has been to learn who I am and what my strengths are, and to follow my heart even if I was afraid of how it would be received.  So here I am J.

What is one thing you wish someone had told you before you started swinging?

There are a few things:

1.  Not to worry so much about what people think if they found out.  We’ve not had any really negative reactions so far; most people wish they had a relationship like ours so it really was an unfounded fear in the end.

2.  Not to worry about my sexual performance.  I’ve actually used swinging to increase my bedroom repertoire, to try different techniques and new things, making me a better lover than I ever was before so again, unfounded fear!

3.  Not to worry about my body.  There are so many different bodies of all ages engaging in this lifestyle, and so many of them aren’t Barbie dolls and are extremely relaxed about the whole thing… it’s a truly liberating experience when you learn to let go of your fears and inhibitions, and just be in the moment. Another unfounded fear J.

What are some of the most frequent questions couples ask you about the swing lifestyle, and could you share some of your answers?

How do you not get jealous!  But I’ve answered that one on my site and on my YouTube channel J.

I often get one partner talking to me first and asking “how do you get your partner to want to do it too?” J  My answer to that is that you can’t make them do anything.  It’s best to take baby steps to introduce them to the idea by having a very open and honest conversation, always speak of the positive benefits of it but address all of their concerns.  In a way you really have to sell the idea to them.

For some people it can take years but plant the seeds and be patient.  You are far more likely to succeed if you let them come around at their own pace.   If they have some emotional baggage that is preventing them, that’s where I come in but there are never any guarantees that they will come around and they have to know that.

The transition part of moving from a traditional relationship to an alternative relationship is the most vulnerable time and having someone they can talk to help them through it can make all the difference.

Are you willing to share a “best and worst” swinging experience – and what you learned from each?

Worst experience – well we haven’t had any really bad experiences but recently a couple came over and it was their first time swinging together. He’d done it before but she hadn’t. Anyway, long story short they had a misunderstanding that had started before they got here, and then sort of exploded later in our evening resulting in about 3 hours of tears and arguing in different rooms of our house.  We weren’t involved, and stayed out of it as much as possible, although I did try to talk to her a bit. They were too intoxicated to drive home so here is where it had to be dealt with.

What I learned from that is to be even more grateful for my Mr. Wonderful. It was also a reminder that even though people may think they will be OK with something, they won’t know for sure until they get there.  Also if we have someone on their first time, we’ll individually be checking in with both to make sure both partners are ok with what’s going on, being extra aware for body language signs to suggest otherwise, stopping everything and suggesting they talk to each other at the first sign that’s something’s not right.

Best experience – oh there are so many, we’ve had lots of great times but one of the best was a group event that our toyboy put on.  5 couples and 2 single guys, started at 11pm, we walked out at 10am the next morning.  There was a lot of swapping, groups, girl on girl and just general playing which was awesome.

I think that was the night I learned to really relax and go with the flow.  There were some very sexy people there and some people we weren’t interested in playing with, so while there were 14 of us there, I think I really only played with about 7 or 8.  It was also the first night I really felt attracted to another girl which was a mind blowing experience. Had I kept worrying about how I looked and what others thought, I wouldn’t have been able to get into the moment or connect with them like I did.  It was an awesome night and the photos still make me smile J.

What top three pitfalls do you advise couples to avoid when they decide to explore the world of swinging?

1.      Communication! You have to be able to talk freely with each other; be completely honest about what you want and about what is and isn’t ok.  Sometimes one partner will go along with a situation or suggestion because they think that’s what the other partner wants and that can end badly.  You also have to be able to talk after a play date and be able to tell each other what you liked and what you didn’t.  If you can’t be honest now or can’t effectively communicate, don’t even attempt to swing.  Go and learn how to communicate first.

2.      Work out your boundaries and stick to them!  If you can’t play by the rules, you run the risk of losing the freedom to play, and your relationship.  Sticking to your agreed boundaries is what builds more trust through this transition, it’s extremely important both partners do this.  Once you have that trust and comfort, the boundaries seem to change and relax J

3.      Make special time for just the 2 of you to reconnect after a play date.  It is more important to make sure your partner still feels like they are number one in your world, and to build on your connection with each other.  This keeps the feelings of relationship security high and enables you both to keep playing, having the experience enhance your relationship J
