Dragon Bridge by E D Parr @Parr_books #NewRelease #MM #LGBTQ+ #MFRWAuthor

Thank you for inviting me to your blog with my new release MM romance release, Dragon Bridge, from Evernight Publishing

I first started thinking about this story around two years ago when I saw a shadow across the full moon that looked like a dragon. It was a dark gray cloud, but it captured my imagination and for a year, I considered a plot that might work that sight into a story and so the legend of Ponte Drago, (Dragon Bridge) was born.

It still took me a year to write Dragon Bridge, weaving my legend through the love story to provide the background for characters.

I researched Italy, where the bulk of the story takes place, a little, just enough to imagine places that might exist, but not enough to describe existing towns as I wrote that might take away from the mysterious element I wanted in the story. I’d love to visit Italy for the art that exists there … maybe one day.

My lovely hero Key Alder is an ordinary guy, worn down by life as many people are. Naturally, I’m in love with him, as I am with all my characters. We meet him when he’s struggling emotionally with his work. His journey through this love story allows him to find his lost confidence and in the end, huge courage.

Claudio Di Fiore, my other hero, as Key Alder puts it, is gorgeous and enigmatic. I think, right now, he is one of my favorite characters from any of my MM romance stories. His love for Key is steadfast and fierce. He’s fearless until he falls in love with Key and then Claudio’s only fear is losing him.

The story is contemporary, gay, MM romance, fantasy, adventure, and paranormal romance.

I hope readers enjoy the legend and the love story as much as I loved writing it.

Blurb

Tired from his high stress work fighting cyber-crime, handsome, Key Alder takes a vacation on a beautiful Italian coast. He travels from one gorgeous town to another and after a perilous journey lost in the mountains, he settles into his hotel and relaxes.

In a beachside café, next to a warm pale-blue ocean, a performer hands out fliers for an arts festival in a mountain village. Lured by adventure, Key attends an evening performance of fire juggling acrobats in the legendary village piazza.

Beautiful, enigmatic Claudio Di Fiore, the star of the show, sees Key in the audience and is captured by a wonderful feeling he’s unaccustomed to.

Claudio wants Key.

Key is enchanted by Claudio.

A passionate love grows between the two men.

When Claudio’s mysterious ancient family threaten to tear them apart, will Key risk everything to stay with his loved one?

Read a teaser. Key arrives at his first vacation destination.

As he turned a corner of the high coast road, Key caught his breath as his destination came into sight. The entire hillside of a gorgeous bay housed buildings interspersed with trees and flowering shrubs. Several rooftops sprouted palms in huge pots or tubs of bright flowers. Each building climbed the sheer hillside effortlessly from a beach of white sand toward a wall of crags enclosing the bay. The sun slanted off a jade colored dome and sprinkled glitter on primary colored buildings close by. Key slowed to enter the town, already well below the speed limit in awe of the view, he crawled the car to his hotel. Key had spent hours on the internet making sure he knew where it lay. His newfound fragile lightheartedness wouldn’t stand going around in circles until he was exhausted trying to find the place.

A valet took his car keys to park his rental. A porter picked up his luggage and led him to check in. Relieved by these ministrations, Key smiled at the desk clerk. He gave his name. The young woman on duty returned his smile and keyed something into a computer, then she stood and took a keycard from one of the small rectangular openings in the wall behind the desk. Her near perfect English as she spoke to him was reassuring, but Key decided right then that he’d try to learn some Italian. Then I could at least greet people and say thank you.

New Release: His Proposition, by Maggie Blackbird @BlackbirdMaggie #BookGiveaway #BookTour #MFRWAuthor #Romance

I’m not usually a fan of the “he has to marry to keep his inheritance” trope, but I am a fan of Maggie Blackbird. His Proposition pulled me in immediately, and I could not put it down. Fresh, original, characters worth caring for, all sensitively woven into a plot that rises above the prejudices and stereotypes that are so rife in our western culture. You won’t want to miss this compelling story.

His
Proposition

by
Maggie Blackbird

but the clincher is, she has to marry a perfect stranger.

When her employer offers the no-nonsense Shannon Nadjiwon the position of chauffeuring Séamus Daugherty, she jumps at the chance. EXCERPT

“I see…” Well, what was she supposed to do? She couldn’t throw her life down the toilet because she felt sorry for a client. “Look, I feel bad about the predicament you’re in, but I’m your driver—”

“A driver whom I asked to marry me.” His gaze had turned to steel. Even his brows slanted inward.

“I can’t…” She coughed. “I can’t marry you. We don’t even know each other.”

“That’s because you won’t allow me the chance to know you.” He settled both hands on the table. “Allow me to get to know you. I can provide you with what you truly desire—your own town car for clients. Your own business.”

“Where are we going to get married? This place is a tourist resort.” Okay, what she’d said was dumb, but that was about all she was capable of uttering right now.

“Banff. I can procure a ring for you at a local jewelry proprietor. It’s simply a matter of visiting the town hall to obtain a marriage license.”

He was truly and utterly serious. She sagged in her chair and set both palms on her temples.

“Goodness, Shannon.” He chortled. “You look as if I asked you to rob a bank with me when I simply asked for your hand in marriage.”

Hearing her name on his lips again left a velvet-like tingling sensation on her skin. She glanced up. He continued to sit with both hands on the table, simply staring.

“Marriage is a serious commitment—”

“I think I know how serious of a commitment marriage is.” He finally lifted his filled glass and sat back. From the way he moved, he must have crossed his legs. His elbow rested on the arm of the chair. “There has never been divorce in my family, otherwise I think my mother would have left my father ages ago.”

“Is this why your father is strict about who you’ll marry?”

He grinned while sipping from his glass. “No. He prefers to keep with tradition. Every son and daughter of a Daugherty marries into another family from old money.”

“Then I think he’d have our marriage annulled,” Shannon pointed out—anything to stop this crazy conversation from going a step further.

“Never.” Séamus’ grin vanished. “He wouldn’t do anything to smear the Daugherty name. As I said—there has never been divorce in our family. Annulment isn’t an option, either. We are Irish Catholic.”

“You have a strong faith?” This took Shannon by surprise.

Séamus flicked his hand. “I attend Mass when I’m obliged.”

Well, his beliefs weren’t any of her business. No doubt his father ordered Séamus to attend service for special holidays and such. He was correct in one respect, though—his family’s outlook was from over a century ago.

“Now… I offered you your own business. What do you say? Yes?” He took another sip from his glass.

He was so nonchalant about everything. Maybe it came from being stinking wealthy and having whatever he wanted at his fingertips.

“Your father wouldn’t approve. I’m not Irish. I’m not Catholic. I’m not from this old money you speak about. I never even attended university. I’m Ojibway and from the rez. I follow the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers.”

“No, he wouldn’t approve, but I think you are perfect.”

“Perfect?” She shifted in the chair. “How?”

“You’re everything I would want to marry.” He motioned at the attendant. “Let’s eat first. We can discuss this further on the balcony.”

An Ojibway from Northwestern Ontario, Maggie resides in the country with her husband and their fur babies, two beautiful Alaskan Malamutes. When she’s not writing, she can be found pulling weeds in the flower beds, mowing the huge lawn, walking the Mals deep in the bush, teeing up a ball at the golf course, fishing in the boat for walleye, or sitting on the deck at her sister’s house, making more wonderful memories with the people she loves most.

Valkyrie Love by Viviana MacKade On Tour! @vivimackade #MFRWAuthor #NewRelease

Valkyrie love never comes easy.

Brenna left Asgard with a curse on her name and a broken heart.

A Valkyrie now free and independent, for millennia her life had been great. Just great.

Then a bleeding Elf knocks at her door holding a baby.

Alexander Reed left the Marines and lost the wheel of his life. A soldier without a worthy fight, he became everything he despised. Until he ends up in the wrong backyard at the wrong time.

Fljóða, Queen of the Light Elves and last of her lineage, is an infant with a death sentence on her head. Hunted by the Night Elves, her survival brings Brenna and Reed together for the ultimate mission: take the little Queen to safety in the Vanaheim Realm, deep in the Roots of Yggdrasil.

Not simple, but straightforward.

Or so it seemed.

Between flaming giants, demons, and an army of Half Breed determined to kill the Queen and conquer all the Elvin Realms, Brenna and Reed will have to face their inner monsters.

Monsters appearing in the form of feelings neither want but cannot control.

EXCERPT

Reed rested his elbows on his knees, observed his scarred hands before zeroing his quiet, blue-green eyes to her. “What am I doing here, Brenna?”

“She saw you in a vision.”

“Mae?”

“Yes. Elves have that ability. She saw you and me in Vanaheim, cheering for victory.”

“So, I’m destined for something? Because visions and destiny can kiss my – you know what. I’m done having people making choices for me.” Soft, slow, his words held iron and steel, an unbreakable will. “I choose for me.”

Brenna chuckled. “You can relax, Alexander Reed. Visions are not what’s necessarily going to happen. It’s not a prophecy. They are one of the millions of possibilities. If you decide to come, if you survive the journey to the Vanaheim, if we do everything that specific vision requires, then there’s a chance for us to end up becoming the vision.”

“Better.” Then he frowned. “What do you mean, if I survive? What about you?” He stopped. “Wait a second, what are you?”

Brenna could be selling him some crap, or at least try to. What would the point in doing as much be? This man, a stranger, was way in already, she might as well come clean. “I’m of the Aesir people.”

“Why is the name familiar?”

“Because the realm I come from is Asgard.”

She saw the moment where realization dawned on him. Very few knew about Vanaheim, or Muspelheim, the land of the fire giants. Many, many people thought they knew about Asgard–thank you, Hollywood. His eyes grew huge, and he ran a hand over his messy short hair. “Shit.”

Because there was something deeply comic in the way he took that news after all he’d learned, she tilted her head and dealt the final blow. “I’m a Valkyrie.”

“Shut the fuck up.”

Brenna burst into laughter. “I will not,” she said when she could speak again.

He kept looking at her, up and down, like she came from another planet. Well, okay. She did. But so did Maeraggyth, and he didn’t get a seizure for it.

“You are a goddess,” he finally said.

“No, I’m not. We served Odin and Freyja, who are Gods, but we were not goddesses ourselves. Strictly talking.” Brenna shook off the uncomfortable feeling her past always gave her and readdressed the topic. “Reed, is it? No Alexander, no Alex. Sandy?”

“Reed.”

“Well, Reed, nice to meet you and welcome into the mess that’s Yggdrasil. Are you hungry?”

“I am.”

Without a second thought or hesitation, Brenna headed to the door. “Then come,” she told him. “We’ll eat and talk more later.”

What can you expect from my books?

And I’m not saying just from Valkyrie Love, I mean all my books. I think a writer is, first and foremost, a reader. So, I try to write the kind of stories that I would love, in the way I would love, as a reader.

Here are the basics, which are also the things that make me put down a book.

Heroines are not stupid. Maybe they are confused, maybe they are afraid, or naïve. But never stupid. They mean business and will see through it.

Heroes are never cave men. Which does not mean they are not alpha, or aggressive, mad, or broken. Lord of the Ring’s Aragorn? There, that’s my hero. Good at the core, my men may have gone through a bad spell (or two, or three) and became sour/disillusioned/angry. But the core is good. Even when they don’t realize it (Aidan, I’m looking at you).

Fast pace. I’m Road Runner on steroid because I got no time to waste. I embody fast pace. It bleeds in my books to the point where, in a world of overworded stories, my capital sin is underwriting. I love the action, not just in action-scenes. I want action in a static scene. I want action when my heroes are stuck in a car for a 3-day travel. When they eat breakfast. When they are alone thinking how to get out of trouble.

Quirky writing. A weird combination of lyrical paragraphs and poetical descriptions (my editor’s words) and short, chopped sentences. *shrugs* Dunno why.

Logic. My husband is a scientist. He’s all logic, and he’s the one who reads each book even before my editor sees them. He can spot a plot hole within a mile, and the guy has no trouble letting me know.

Deep feelings. Because what is the point, otherwise?

Big trouble. Again, what is the point, otherwise?

Absolutely no preaching. There are people smarter and more prepared than me to teach you stuff. I just want to give you guys a break.

I hope you enjoyed reading this piece, and that you will keep following the tour.

Happy readings!

THE JOY OF WRITING

They always tell you to find that job that fills you with joy. If you love it, it won’t feel like a job. That’s what writing is like for me. Creating characters and writing stories for them is something I don’t think I can describe.

As with every new author, when I first started writing it was to learn. I found I had a knack for dialogue. I was told that is the one thing that can’t be taught. A writer can learn everything else, but dialogue, especially witty dialogue, needs to flow naturally. Believe me, when I first started my stories were rough, mostly dialogue and very little description. I was told that my stories read like a screen play.

As I learned my craft I learned more about my style of writing. I found that humor creeps into my stories no matter what, so I don’t fight it. I also write in the paranormal genre. I love reading that genre, so it makes sense that I’d write in it. I also have this thing for quests. Don’t know why. I blame it on all those fantasies I read over the years.

The one thing I can tell you about The Power of the Tears is it was so much fun to write. It’s one of my favorites out of this werewolf series. I think I fell in love with my hero as I learned more and more about him. Catherine I already liked. She’s smart and strong, even though she is a female in the male dominant world of werewolves. She’s also a very powerful woman in that world which you don’t normally see in an alpha driven society.

When I did my world building I decided that I wanted my werewolves to be like anyone else. No howling at the moon, maybe when the sex is really good, but not at the moon. Silver bullets hurt just like regular ones. The only difference between them and a human is the shifting. Oh, and they do live a lot longer than we do. Better hearing, better eyesight, better taste buds…okay so there are a few differences, but nothing that can be seen.

All my men are alphas and my heroines have the strength to stand up to them. It makes for intriguing plots and great romances. I hope you fall in love with my people and their stories just like I did.

EXCERPT

Last week their lips barely brushed at the end of what turned out to be their first date — this week they get another chance at a real kiss.

Nadja shuddered, sitting on her living room couch. Kevin sat next to her. He was too close. He was too far away. Her skin warmed and then just as quickly chilled. When had she become such a tease? She never toyed with men. She never bantered with them. Not like this.

Was it Kevin’s seemingly boundless patience she was testing? Or was it his perseverance? Maybe it was her perseverance.

She raised the wine glass to her lips and peeked at him. They’d exchanged views on a wide range of topics. She’d been surprised by his varied interests. But he hadn’t even tried to put his arm around her.

“Do you miss Ukraine?”

“Yes. I miss the high hills, the beautiful buildings, and the dancing.”

“But you don’t plan to go back?”

She shook her head. “Not to live. This is my home now. I have my shop, and Ivett and her husband. And I can speak my mind without worrying about what others may think.” She paused. “At least most of the time.”

He nodded and studied her thoughtfully. “Nadja.”

“Yes?”

“I don’t read minds very well. Are you going to jump out of your skin if I kiss you?”

She wet her lips but couldn’t smile. “I’ll try not to.”

He placed an arm around her shoulder and turned her chin toward him with his other hand. She held his gaze as he dipped his head until his lips slanted across hers. It was a soft kiss. Not at all demanding. His lips coaxed hers into responding. She draped her arms around his neck. She feared she might dissolve in his arms.

He leaned back only enough to whisper, “You taste like cherry.”

“My lipstick,” she explained.

“I like cherry.”

“Maybe you’ll want to taste again.”

Kevin curled his fingers around the car door latch and turned back to Nadja. “Hmm, kissing me on the cheeks—does that make this a date?”

She broke into a large smile. “I’m not positive. Don’t misread a European custom.” She hesitated, then leaned across the space separating them to brush her lips lightly across his. She settled back in her seat and quietly watched his eyes sparkling.

“That’s an American custom,” he said, “for ending a date.”

“Don’t be so narrow-minded,” she teased. “I believe that custom is fairly common worldwide for ending a first date. Good night,” she added quickly. “I’ll see you on Friday.”

“You bet you will,” Kevin said, opening the door.

She watched him until he entered the motel. She hadn’t planned on their evening turning into a date. But it had. How? When? Why?

It had seemed like such a natural thing to kiss him. It had only been a kiss, and not much of one at that.

So why did her lips still tingle?

New Release ~ Delicious Heat, by @SadiraStone #Foodie #Romance #Steamy #Chef

Cupid has lousy timing.

After kicking her cheating husband to the curb, nurse Anna Khoury discovers she’s pregnant. When Bangers Tavern’s hunky chef makes heart eyes at her, she dismisses that delicious thrill as the last thing she needs. Single motherhood will take all her strength and focus. Anna’s battered heart can’t take another blow.

Chef Diego Vargas is aiming higher than burgers and tater tots. His dream—his own food truck, the Empanada Angel, but he’ll need his family’s support to pull it off. Meeting Anna leaves him thunderstruck, even though his attraction to her threatens all his plans. Call it fate, call him crazy, but he’s determined to prove he’s in it for keeps.

With a belligerent ex-husband and two overprotective families set on breaking them up, Anna and Diego will need more than red-hot passion to pull them through. His career and her baby’s future are on the line.

Come back to Bangers Tavern for a spicy tale of forbidden love that will warm your heart…and other parts…and make you hungry for empanadas!

Excerpt

When the tots were crispy and golden, Diego layered on the toppings: shredded extra-sharp Tillamook cheddar, crumbled pepper bacon, paper-thin slices of green onion, sauteed garlic mushrooms, pickled sweet-hot pepper slices, sour cream, and a drizzle of his house-made spicy ketchup. Heart attack on a plate. He hoped Charlie’s sister was hungry. Was she as pretty as Charlie?

He smoothed his apron and blotted his sweaty forehead. “I’m just gonna deliver these.”

At the bar, he found bartenders Kiara and River, along with all three servers, huddled around a brunette knockout in a curve-skimming red dress.

She glanced up. Their gazes met and held. Everything else slowed down.

Those last few steps to the bar felt like being towed through honey. Her espresso-dark eyes widened, sparkling under the Christmas lights. Her plump lips parted. Her chest rose and fell.

She’s a goddess.

He set the container of tots before her, removed his cap, and scrubbed a hand through his squashed hair. She echoed the gesture, winding a chestnut curl around her slender fingers.

Abuelita had told him the story of when she and Abuelo first met. “It was like a golden rope wrapped around my heart and pulled me to him. It holds us together still.”

At the time, he’d laughed off her hyperbole. But now, in this electric moment, Diego understood exactly what she meant.

“Hi.” The angel murmured, her voice low and musical, like a cello. “Did you make these?”

Dumbstruck by her beauty, he could only nod.

She lifted a tot to her lips, inhaled the steam rolling off it, and sighed.

He thanked the kitchen gods for the apron hiding his erection.

She took a bite, then her head lolled back on a groan. “Soooo good.”

Charlie narrowed her eyes and moved closer to her sister, bristling with protective vibes. He’d do the same if someone was eyeing his little sister like a tasty snack.

Say something, idiot! He cleared his throat. “They go really well with the Port Angeles Amber.” He hooked a thumb over his shoulder toward the beer taps.

Her gaze dropped, and the corner of her mouth hitched up in a shy half-smile. “Wish I could try it, but I’m pregnant.”

No ring on her left hand, but a pale indentation where one had recently been. Divorced? Please let her be single. Please, please, please.

“Oh. Well then, enjoy, Miss…”

“Anna.” Though it didn’t seem possible, her wide smile made her even more beautiful.

Flushed and breathless, he backed toward the kitchen and bonked into something soft.

“Watch where you’re going, Romeo.” With a chuckle, Dawn grasped his shoulders, spun him around, and sent him on his way with a gentle shove.

What are you doing? his common sense shrieked. She’s pregnant! But he allowed himself a final glance over his shoulder. She popped another tot into her lush mouth and winked. He waggled his fingers and pushed through the swinging doors, then collapsed against the wall, clutching his heart.

“Whatsa matter with you?” Shelby asked with a snort.

He closed his eyes and heaved a happy sigh. “I just met the woman I’m going to marry.”
