EXCERPT

“Wanna grab a coffee now?”

Seeming surprised, Nate took a moment to respond. “If you’re sure? I don’t want you to feel as though you have too.”

Brody nodded. “I’m sure. There’s a new café I saw that must have opened up a while back. On the main strip. Hotshots. You heard of it?”

“Yeah, I know Hotshots,” Nate said with a chuckle. “It’s almost like a morning ritual for me before school to drop in there now. Skye and Brandon definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to coffee.”

“I had been told those two opened up a place. I know them pretty well. Brandon’s older brother Isaac and my brother Emmett are close friends. They work together.” Taking the steps necessary to fall in line with Nate, they cut their way through the forest toward the old highway where he had parked his car before heading off into the preserve. “Both of them were a couple of years ahead of me. You wouldn’t have met them back then since they graduated the year before you started teaching.”

Brody winced at the memories that particular comment brought up and looked out into the forest, at anything that meant he didn’t have to maintain eye contact.

An awkward silence settled on top of them until they finally reached their cars, and while he felt a slight relief in the break of tension by parting ways temporarily, another side loathed to let Nate out of his sight.

“I’ll meet you there,” he offered in parting as he moved towards his car.

“Are you sure you don’t want to head home and shower first?”

“Nah. I’m good.” He shrugged and opened the driver’s side door. Truth be told he was a little afraid that if he didn’t seize this moment now that Nate would change his mind, and that was the last thing Brody wanted. Seeing Nate uncertain, Brody sighed and bit the bullet, getting straight to the heart of it. “It’s just coffee, Nate. No expectations. Just coffee.”

Nate nodded with a small smile as Brody gave him a quick wave before folding into his jeep and slamming the door shut.

****

No expectations?

The roar of the engine startled Nate out of his daydream as Brody sped off down the dirt road that led to the main highway and back into town. He felt the smile on his lips turn into a full-fledged grin, ignoring the hint of panic at the idea of spending time with Brody.

And damn, had he grown up good.

Brody had grown even taller in the last few years, giving him a more masculine appearance now. Gone was the smooth, baby-faced look, replaced by day-old scruff, a chiseled jaw, and biceps big enough that Nate had no doubt the other man could lift him if he was so inclined.

He flushed at that last thought.

Nate noticed another particular feature that was new to Brody. A rather large tattoo snuck out from the edges of his T-shirt, making Nate curious as to what it looked like in full.

“Focus, idiot,” he muttered to himself.

Right, no expectations. Was Brody serious? All there had ever been between them was expectations.

BLURB Running in Circles

Brody Jamerson returned to Woodport sure of three things. It would only be temporary, his future was in the city, and he would avoid his old high school teacher and crush, Nate McCallister, at all costs.

However, with the help of a nosy but well-meaning baker and a hyperactive cafe owner, Brody may find that in a town known for its second chances, he might just stop running in circles long enough to find where he really belongs.

About Jess Buffett

Jess Buffett was born and raised in New South Wales, Australia. Jess is a mum of two, married to her high school sweetheart. She is a hopeless romantic who is a huge fan of M/M and M/F romance with a happy ending—anything with hunky men in all their glory, whether they be Shifters, Vampires, Cowboys, or the boy next door. A caffeine addict who shamefully can’t make a decent cup of coffee to save her life, Jess believes in soul mates, happily ever afters, and in love at first sight, but that sometimes people need a second or a third for the brain to catch up.

All stories have a beginning and a middle, but it is how those stories end that we remember them.

Everything must come to an end, and as Eli contemplates the loss of Malachi in a London ripped apart by war, he knows that the final battle looms ever closer. Where is Ethan? Eli can feel him, their love for each other calling through time, but History conspires to keep them apart as Morbius uses him for the final game.

Desperate to find a way to end the war, Eli once again delves into the distant past in search of answers, but as Jack the Ripper taunts him from the pages of his dead lover’s diary, Eli is left despondent.

So many lies, so many terrible secrets bleeding across his memories, and all of it to keep him safe from the fingers of those who would destroy him. Love. All of it for love. So much lost, and all of it because of love.

As Eli says goodbye to London for the last time, he can only hope that love will be enough to end the madness. He has a plan to rescue Ethan. An audacious plan, and it will take all of History by his side to see it through to the bitter end. It is time to break Ethan free from the bonds that enslave him, and as they hurtle towards Berlin, the final sacrifice begins.

Excerpt

Suddenly he lay atop of me, bearing down upon me in all his spectacular might. Sweat glistened upon his carved chest, rivulets of perspiration dripping off his pert nipples, and I found that I needed to drink him. I leaned forward, my tongue eager to feast, but he pushed me back sharply, filling my gaze with his magnificent head. He liked to wear his hair short these days, and it suited him, making the most of those huge green eyes and luscious lashes. Yet again, I found my gaze returning to the crevice of his chin, my cock rest, and I lashed out quickly, my tongue brushing over the velvet of his lips.

His knees pinned my arms in place at my side, and he sat up, his ass on my stomach, forcing the air up out of my lungs.

“That will fucking teach you to be cheeky,” he grinned.

“You swore!! You actually broke the rules and swore! I’m impressed.”

“We are about to break every rule in Heaven. I think a little curse word is the least of our problems, don’t you?”

His hands moved behind his back, and I felt my stiffening cock encased in the warmth of his palms. With slow, playful jerks, he quickly brought me to attention.

“Stop it!” I demanded, though my words lacked conviction.

“Stop what?”

“That!”

“This?” His hands moved faster, pumping me mercilessly until I squirmed beneath his considerable weight.

“We haven’t…got…time,” I gasped, but already I could feel my blood rising in my cheeks as my balls tightened in his grip.

“There is always time,” he growled, and I knew that it was too late for him to stop.

“But they’re coming…”

“Give me a second and so will you.”

My back arched beneath him as my load exploded up his back. The look of intense lust that blistered across his face empowered my orgasm, and it pumped from the tip of my cock, leaving me weak and wasted underneath him.

He brought his dripping fingers to his mouth and tasted me, his tongue licking the juice from his hand. Suddenly, his lips smashed into mine, and I felt his tongue explode into my mouth with a force that took my breath away. So intense was the kiss, so hard did he press his mouth into mine that it felt as though he wished to climb inside my body, to be inside me, a part of me, never to be separated. I pulled my hands out from under his knees, and I pulled his head into me, my fingers gripping his short hair as I drowned in him. Our tongues and our teeth ground into each other with such terrible, desperate urgency that I tasted blood upon my lips.

About the Author

Hi everyone, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sean Kerr, and I am a 47-year-old gay man living in Cardiff, Wales with my husband of 28 years, Derek. We have two cats, Rita and Harry, and a host of tropical fish.

By day, I am an Interior designer, and I have had a shop, Home Zone, in Cardiff with my amazing business partner, Jayne for eleven and a half years. It has and continues to be a struggle. The recession hit a few years after we opened, and it has been challenging, to say the least. I consider myself to be lucky though because the shop pays me a wage, and I have been lucky enough to furnish my house with lovely things because of it, and I really do have some spectacular curtains lol.

I worked on building sites for years, and I used the money earned from that to put myself through college, specialist paint techniques etc. I trained in fine art, and then I went out and painted murals on client’s walls, and created Roman Bathrooms and fantasy hand painted bedrooms, all the rage back in the late eighties and nineties. I then became an Interior Designer for a large DIY chain, and that is where I met Jayne, my business partner, and the rest is history.

By night I am an Author, and I am very proud to be an author for Extasy Books. It took me some years to get to this point. I spent a very long time trying to get an agent because I thought it was the right thing to do, and after a heck of a lot of refusals, I nearly gave up. I came so close to hitting the delete button on Dead Camp 1 because I thought I did not stand a chance. At the very last moment, I decided to have a go at approaching a few publishers directly, and I sent the manuscript to six. Within two weeks, I had offers of publication from three! Let’s just say that there may have been tears lol. It was my chance, at last, to become a part of a world that I have always loved and admired from a distance, and it is one of the very best things that has ever happened to me.

I currently have four books under my belt in my Dead Camp series, as well as a short novella called Hush Little Baby. Dead Camp is my take on the Vampire genre, a Paranormal Romance series that is set against a backdrop of World War 2. However, the series uses key moments from History to tell one enormous saga, and I have loved every single moment of writing it. There will be five books in the Dead Camp series.

Hush is a pure horror story with more than a nod towards such classic programmes as The Twilight Zone and Tales of The Unexpected. The project happened just after I completed Dead Camp 3 and it is a story that I had to get out of my system. It’s definitely a different beast to my Vampire saga, and I hope it will make you go to bed with the lights on lol!

Dead Camp 5 is the last book in the series. I will feel very sad to leave it behind. Yet, at the same time, I am so proud of this saga which has been such an important part of my life for the last couple of years. I love writing, so very much. It has always been my dream, and the wonderful Extasy Books has made my dream come true, and it is a world that I am totally in love with. It is a world I hope to be a part of for a very long time to come.

Breath of Life

Book 1

Wide Awake

Heat rating 4

Blurb:

Than has his life figured out. He’s a fleet security officer, he’s exploring the space and is happily unattached. Nothing out of ordinary.

Until everything goes wacko. Suddenly the ship he’s stationed on is malfunctioning, he’s rudely awoken from cryo by a pole crashing on his capsule and has…memories he shouldn’t have. What the hell is happening? He’d better figure it out, and soon, lives may just depend on it.

Excerpt

He was suffocating.

*Where was I?* It was dark and void. He could hear only the beats of his heart and his faible struggles to breathe. He could not move. He could not think. Where was he? K’Aran! His drakar will know, he will come. K’Aran was a great warrior even among his people. He will not let Than die, of that the human was sure. That did not mean Than was a weakling. After all, he’d been a lieutenant in the AEF- The Alliance Exploration Forces, sometimes called the Alliance’s Army before… Before? Before what?

His struggles to breathe renewed, this time fuelled by despair and pure unaltered panic. Than knew it was important to remember something. He knew he had to open his eyes, to assess the situation and establish a perimeter of defence. Than knew what to do. He had trained his entire life to survive exactly this type of situations – waking up in a strange place, immobilised, no memory of how he’d got there. It was like a reminiscence of the special training course Than had taken after the Academy to qualify for deep space exploring. The memory of the torture they had subjected him and the others to, before allowing them to go on their first official mission was strangely calming. Than forcibly regulated his breathing, taking smaller and smaller gulps of air. Now that he was calm, he could feel that something was terribly wrong. And it wasn’t just  a bone-deep intuition. The air was wrong, too thin and cold for Arkana. It resembled… cryo regulated air. Medical kept the oxygen level thinner when resuscitating humans , something about not shocking their lungs. Only it was for a couple of minutes at most. Than had mentally counted five minutes from the moment he’d first regained a state of semi-consciousness.

His eyes did not want to cooperate. Than needed to see. He could smell something burning and that worried him. Arkana was very careful about wildfire as their homes were suspended constructions in  forests of wild vegetation. An uncontrolled fire was certain death for the prey that sustained the population. The people on Arkana were absolute carnivores unlike humans. They needed the animals to thrive and survive.

Both the cryo-air and the scent of smoke were becoming insistent, his lungs now struggling to inflate. A sick feeling started in his stomach but Than still did not want to think about why it all seemed so familiar.  By now another couple of minutes had passed… Wait, why am I waiting for the flux of air to change? His eyes popped open and Than screeched.

“No, no nonono!”

About the Author

Aeryn Jaden loves to read. Loves it so much that some days she doesn’t know what reality is anymore. Her friends and family usually have to yell a bit and remind her. Must be why she’s twenty eight and still searching for a special person of her own.
The second best thing in the world for Aeryn is writing. Writing keeps her relatively sane and clears the voices in her head clamoring for her attention (meaning the characters’ voices, she’s not that crazy to randomly hear voices! Yet.).
She was born in Romania but cannot stay put. One year you’ll find her in England, the next in Greece or Belgium. Who knows where her restless feet will carry her next… One thing remains constant and that is her totally healthy Internet addiction. So you can find her on Facebook or email her at [email protected] or better yet at her website http://aerynjadenauthor.weebly.com/. She’ll love to hear from you so please stop by!

Out Now! Fall for you by Valerie Ullmer #MFRWAuthor #MWTease #M/MRomance

Welcome to MidWeek Tease, where authors share tempting snippets to tide you over till the weekend. A huge shout out to author Angelica Dawson for hosting our blog hop every week!

Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re thrilled fellow author Valerie Ullmer could join us on this special day when love is in the air. Here’s a peek at her contribution to the All You Need is Love Boxed Set, released yesterday and available for just 99 cents.

EXCERPT

Sebastian beamed at him and managed to quickly change the subject.  “Ready to see our new place?”

Ethan nodded.  He felt a loss when Sebastian squeezed his hand once before he let go.  Sebastian opened the driver’s side door and Ethan copied the movement on his side, wondering if he would survive living in a space with Sebastian and be able to keep his feelings locked down deep inside.

“Let’s get our stuff after.  I want you to see it first.”  Sebastian’s excitement made Ethan smile.

Sebastian reached for Ethan’s arm and led him to the side entrance of the modern building Ethan hadn’t noticed before.  Ethan was surprised when Sebastian kept his warm hand on his arm, underneath his grey tee, skin on skin.  As Sebastian turned to shoot him a smile of reassurance, walking backward toward the door, Ethan couldn’t help but noticed how the blue of Sebastian’s tee brought out the hazel of his eyes.  Thinking that he might have been staring a little too long, he glanced down and back up at Sebastian, who still smiled at him.

Reaching back to open the door, Sebastian moved his hand out of the way in time to avoid the door that was pushed open from the inside.  Darting his gaze to the opened door, Ethan barely contained his groan when he spotted the pretty blonde exiting the building.

Well, it was good while it lasted.

She was exactly Sebastian’s type.  Blonde, slender, and wearing a tight white tank and shorts.  He knew Sebastian wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to flirt with her.

Ethan tried to pull his arm from Sebastian’s grip, wanting to go inside and avoid the inevitable, but found himself trapped when she turned and smiled at Sebastian.  With a quick glance to see what Ethan had been looking at, Sebastian turned back to Ethan and raised a brow.

“Hi, I’m Sarah.”

Ethan was stunned silent when Sebastian gave her a quick nod in greeting and dragged Ethan through the door and up the short flight of stairs.  With one last glance behind him to make sure Ethan hadn’t bolted, Sebastian unlocked the door to their flat.

“What?”

“That was the first time I’ve witnessed you not flirt with a woman.  And she was blonde.”

Sebastian laughed and shook his head, opening the door.  “I’m partial to dark hair and olive skin.”

“Since when?” Ethan blurted.

Sebastian’s smile grew wider.  He turned and walked inside the flat, leaving Ethan to follow.

As if on autopilot, Ethan walked in behind Sebastian, keeping his eyes on his wide shoulders, waiting silently to see what he would say.

“After Amber, and others that came before her, I realized that I needed some time alone to think about who I want to be with.  I’ve figured out a lot of things after I quit serial dating.”

His words, while doing nothing to clear up why he hadn’t flirted with Sarah downstairs, struck him as sincere and completely serious.  His heart beat hard and his hands went numb, unable to stop his thoughts from presuming that Sebastian felt more for him than friendship.  And as quickly as they’d come, he dismissed his crazy notions that Sebastian would fall in love with him after all their years of friendship.

BLURB: Fall for You
by Valerie Ullmer

Ethan Sutton had come to the stunning revelation that he’d fallen in love with his best friend, Sebastian Young.  Although friends since childhood, Ethan vowed to keep his feelings for Sebastian under wraps and live the rest of his life with this one secret between them rather than risk a lifelong connection and never see him again.  But when they move into their own apartment at the start of their third year of college, can Ethan keep his feelings from showing when they live so close together?

Sebastian Young had an epiphany about Ethan at the end of last year and arranged for the shared apartment he’d found over the summer to be closer to Ethan and see if a relationship could develop between them.  But as they settle into their lives in a new place with such close quarters, ex-girlfriends, nosy downstairs neighbors, and Sebastian’s own doubts, their relationship could be in jeopardy before it even begins.

Can two best friends admit their feelings and fall in love?

Ethan realized falling in love with his best friend had been easy.  Keeping his feelings a secret from Sebastian as they move into a one-bedroom loft and deal with decisions from their past might prove a bit more difficult.

EXCERPT

Slamming the door behind him, Jonathan leaned his back against it. In short, hard gasps, he took deep breaths, not realizing he’d been holding onto it until then. Thankfully, the feeling of oppression faded and Jonathan began to relax. He stood there by the door for some time, listening for someone, or something, moving outside. When he heard nothing, he let out a sigh of relief and began to step away. He yelped when he caught sight of a movement, but when he saw his reflection staring back at him, he closed his eyes and let out a sigh to the ceiling. A wet and cold touch caressed the length of his neck.

“Jonathan.”

Jonathan opened his eyes, paralyzed as he watched himself in the mirror. His heart raced faster than before, and he couldn’t breathe. At the same time, the feeling of impending doom swamped over him. His heart beat rapidly in his throat, the sound, deafening in his ears. He was very sure that a man had spoken his name. Jonathan couldn’t recall feeling that frightened in his life. The shower in the bathroom turned off, and he heard Rafe whistling a tune, but instead of calling out to him, Jonathan continued to stare at his lone reflection, unable to understand how the voice had spoken right next to his ear. If he were to reflect on that touch, he could swear it had been a tongue. When the bathroom door opened behind him made him jump, he turned around, fist drawn up to hit whoever it was that was playing pranks on him. Rafe stood in the doorway, bare except for a damp towel around his waist. Jonathan slowly lowered his fist, fighting his rising urge to run like a coward and schooled his features.

AUTHOR BIO

I am a wife, mother and blogger by day, a writer by night. It can be difficult, to say the least, but it is a challenge that keeps me on my toes.

I grew up listening to folk tales my father and nannies told either to entertain us children or to send home a message. These narratives I kept with me and finally, I wrote them down in a journal way back when I kept one. Going through junk led to a long forgotten box and in it was the journal. Reading the stories of romance, science fiction and horror I had taken time to put to paper, brought to light that these were tales I never met in my readings.

The tales I write are fictional but all of them are based on what I grew up with and still dream about. That they have an M/M twist is simply for my pleasure. And I hope, yours as well.

Trilogy of A Wolf’s Endowment, Book One

“What is it?” he asked, now longing to feel that spurt of heat, the end result one finally reached when pleasure sought became pleasure gained.

“You’re beautiful,” she rasped, cupping his cheek. “More handsome than I ever imagined.”

Her words drove him. Her praise consoled him. Through her, he was transformed and now he was larger than life. He bracketed his arm around her waist and drew her against him, noting the tightly drawn muscles as he gathered her small form and brought her to him.

A loud noise whipped around them like tornado winds. The truck window split in two, shattering into bits and pieces right before his very eyes. Animalistic instincts drove him as he thrust inside her, unable to stop and acknowledge the happenings around him.

His arousal heightened, reaching a peak he’d never expected. And something else occurred, too. The need to guard and protect, love and cherish, came over him like a breaking tide, leaving him torn between what he knew he’d felt before he took Rebecca and the feelings practically suffocating him now.

A deep-rooted howl fell from his chest. Canines jabbed through his gums, dropping over his bottom lip without warning. Elongated nails were the first inclination his fingers were no longer attached to hands, but to claws.

“What’s happening to me?” he asked, his senses sharper, far more profound.

“You were determined to resist me. You wanted to be difficult,” Rebecca told him, sliding away from his lap. “You should’ve let me get you off, lover. I would’ve bitten you at the right time and you wouldn’t have had to deal with him.” She pointed to the window.

Joe immediately recognized the man Rebecca fingered in an effort to place blame. Jacob.

“Now, Joe, you’re on your own.”

Summer looks full of promise for swingers Jen and Brett Andrews—ever since Sarah Creston’s arrival, three-way possibilities for mind-shattering sex seem endless. Secretly, Jen’s a little pleased their best friends Donna and Ryan Powers still aren’t speaking. This way, Jen doesn’t have to share.

Thrilled with her new lifestyle, Sarah makes up for lost time and wants to taste everything—but even she can feel the rift. Ever classy, Sarah resolves to do what’s right and reach out to Donna, no matter the risk. Can she prevent the train wreck, or will Jen and Donna derail her efforts? And if she succeeds, would some three-way makeup sex with the two women be too much to hope for?

EXCERPT

“I can’t tell you how well loved my body feels this morning.” Enjoying the slow smile creeping across Brett’s face, Sarah took a bite of toast. “You guys were awesome last night and I love being awakened with you dragging your stiff cock up and down my pussy slit. I was soaking by the time I could open my eyes.”

“I noticed,” Brett said, now grinning from ear to ear. “It was fun watching your nips enlarge as Jen tapped each one to get their attention.”

“She’s good,” Sarah acknowledged, “you both are. Speaking of Jen—she seems to be moving a little slowly this morning.” She gave Brett a wink. “You really screwed her royally last night. I’ve never seen you that aggressive.”

“That’s what she said she wanted.”

“Oh, I heard her. And I doubt she has any regrets. Still, she’s moving a little slower than usual.”

Brett pushed his chair back from the table at the sound of phone ringing.

“I’ll get it!” Jen shouted down the stairs.

Brett lifted a cup of coffee and swallowed deeply. “Damn, you make excellent coffee. I like mine black. You sure use a lot cream in yours.”

Sarah grinned. “I like cream. You should know that by now.”

Brett coughed. “You had Jen creaming nicely this morning. She doesn’t do that for everyone.”

“Maybe I’m more talented than I thought.”

“You’re talented, girl—damn talented. I know Alice and Jen would both agree. You seem to have a way with those long fingers of yours.”

She playfully stuck an index finger in her mouth and sucked slowly before withdrawing it and sticking her tongue out at him.

Writing #GLBTQ Literature

Welcome to the Rainbow Book Reviews Blog Hop! Be sure to click on the graphic to link to the rest of the participants. Lots of fabulous prizes – leave a comment to enter, for ours as well as all the grand prizes. We’re offering one free download, reader’s choice, from our published books.

What does writing GLBTQ literature mean to us? We’re a married couple writing erotic romance together under our pen name, Adriana Kraft. We’re also proud parents of a gay son, members of our local PFLAG chapter, and social activists who’ve supported causes we believe in across more decades than we necessarily want to count.

Nearly three and a half years ago, we stood with other supporters on the steps of our local county Courthouse on an April afternoon awaiting word on the Iowa Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision. We were prepared to stand for our values whichever way the decision went – and we were thrilled with the outcome (and blogged about it, HERE). I don’t think we can say it better than one of us told a reporter that afternoon: “Love is love, and every couple deserves a happy ending.”

So that’s one major reason we write what we write: to celebrate love wherever it can be found, and to share with the world our belief that all persons, whatever their sexual orientation, deserve equality under the law when they form a love relationship.

There’s more of course – we do write erotic romance, after all, and our tag line is Erotic Romance for Two, Three, or More. There are so many varieties and combinations under the rainbow banner. We’re especially partial to scenes and stories that feature two women together, whether lesbian or bisexual. Our short stories and novels explore what’s possible for women (well, and the occasional man) who can’t fit themselves neatly into the box labeled “straight.” Sometimes their foray into same sex relationships turns out to be a small part of coming into their own sexually, as in Mistress of Purgatory Point. More often, same sex erotic encounters become more central for them, and they find a range of solutions for ongoing expression of their entire spectrum of sexuality. We write a world where three- and even four-way committed relationships are not only possible but welcomed.

We hope you’ll leave us a comment on why GLBTQ literature matters to you, and what your favorite pairings are. We’ll pull a winner by random number Monday morning, August 27. Good luck!

How do you define your shifter world?

Today we welcome guest blogger Jessica Lee!

Paranormal romance is one of the most popular genres in the business with new authors on the horizon almost daily. But as they say, “competition is good for business,” right? Yes, I believe that’s true. Competition in publishing inspires the imagination to work even harder to bring the readers something different.

I recently attended the Authors After Dark convention in New Jersey this year where I sat on a panel called “Cats Vs. Dogs.” It was a lively discussion and debate between readers and authors of cat and wolf shifters. What a privilege to have had the opportunity to join some of the most popular names in the paranormal romance industry: Eliza Gayle, Samantha Sommersby, Jacquelyn Frank, and Bianca D’Arc. Part of the dialogue had been based on this very topic: “how is your book different from other shifter books?”

In Bloodlines, I refer to my characters as “shifters” not “werewolves.” I don’t know about you, but for me the term, werewolf, brings to mind this image of a monster—not something sexy. Second, my shifter, Evin KinKaid and his pack family possess the ability to change at will. They’re not controlled by the full moon. Allowing my character to have control of when and where he could shift gave me a little freedom when creating the story. There’s so much more versatility, and their powers can work for you when you need them to.

Another question that came up was how and when did your character first change/shift into a wolf? Where they born able to shift, or did they have to wait until a certain point in life?

When creating Evin, I saw their world as one where at puberty they gained the ability to shift. Unfortunately, I can’t go into the details any deeper without giving away a spoiler. Let’s just say there are extenuating circumstances or events that could make that first shift a not so pleasant experience. *wink*

One unique twist that I enjoyed adding into Bloodlines was giving one of the characters an additional power outside their shifting ability. Who have been some of your more memorable characters in paranormal romance, and what made them so different?

Leave a comment and I’ll randomly pick one lucky person to receive $10 in Omni Bucks from All Romance eBooks!

In addition, please check out my website for further information about another contest I’m holding on Bloodlines’ release day. http://www.jessicaleenovels.com/news.html

Thanks so much, Adriana for allowing me to be here today!

Bloodlines Excerpt:

Evin had been cocky as hell in front of Mason. But the truth was, he was anxious as shit.

A year had passed since his father had banished him from the pack and he’d moved to Dover. Twelve months of jacking off alone in his bed. And the loneliness was driving him out of his mind. But no one in town had even piqued his interest, and a string of anonymous one-night stands wasn’t Evin’s thing. They had a nasty tendency of making an empty bed feel even colder.

There was something different about Mason, though. The human definitely piqued his interest. From the moment Mason had walked into his bay, Evin had been coiled so tight and his dick so hard, he was surprised he’d been able to form a coherent sentence. The spicy scent of Mason’s skin made his blood hot. The way those damn linen pants hugged Mason’s ass when he moved had Evin’s cock aching for release. Shit. No other guy had ever got under his skin so quick before. But it had been all Evin could do to keep a handle on his control and not grab the man by the back of his head, spin him around, and fuck him until Mason knew who he belonged to. Whoa. Where the hell had that come from? He shook his head.

Evin turned left on Highway 211, heading out of town and toward his cottage. After rounding a curb, he pulled onto the shoulder and set the brake.

“Why are we stopping?”

“If I turn around now, there’s a hotel about two miles in the other direction.” Evin pivoted in his seat and faced Mason. Even though the moon served as the car’s only source of illumination, Evin’s perfect night vision allowed him to drink in the rich hue of Mason’s dark eyes. A striking contrast to the short layers of golden blond hair that shimmered under the beams of moonlight. Evin tightened his hand around the leather-covered steering wheel. He had to, or in the next second, his fingers would be wrapped in those locks, and he’d be finding out if they were as soft as they looked. But he knew one touch would never be enough to satisfy the craving about to drive him out of his mind.

“Is that what you want, Evin? Would you rather I choose the other end of the road tonight?”

Yes. Because I’ve got a bad feeling you’re going to be a taste I’ll never get enough of.

No. Because I think I’ll go crazy if I don’t touch you.

“I think it’s pretty clear what I want.” Evin reached out and trailed a forefinger along Mason’s cheek. The coarse sensation of Mason’s shadow of a beard shot through Evin’s skin like a bolt of lust aimed straight for his cock, forcing him to bite back a hiss of pleasure. Mason turned into his touch, then took Evin’s finger knuckle-deep inside his mouth.

And sucked.

Evin couldn’t hold back the groan that emanated from his throat. “Tell me what you want, Mason. Say it.” With a final swipe of his tongue over the tip, Mason released his finger with a pop.

“I want you to fuck me.”

We’ll be there to greet the bus

We’re under attack in Iowa. For a year and a half Iowa has enjoyed marriage equality, based on the unanimous Iowa Supreme Court ruling of April 4, 2009. Now failed Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats is organizing an attempt to unseat the three Iowa Supreme Court judges who are up for retention in this year’s election. The lies and hatred in his campaign are frightening – as is the depth of his financial support from several national ultra conservative groups. Gay news blogger Andy Towle provides an analysis of these sources in his October 22 blog.

Beginning today, for the next four days, a bus tour featuring Rick Santorum, Maggie Gallagher, Tony Perkins, and Iowa Representative Steve King will make stops in twenty Iowa cities and pass through 45 Iowa counties to promote NO votes on the three judges.

I’m frightened by the money, the lies, and most of all the hatred. But I am not alone. A bipartisan committee calling itself Fair Courts for Us has organized Homegrown Justice events to greet the bus at each stop. If you’re an Iowan, or if you know an Iowan who would support this cause, please click on this link to the Homegrown Justice event schedule and share it.

Both halves of Adriana will be there to meet the bus when it stops in our town.
