It’s a Tough Job…

But somebody’s got to do it!

“Research,” I mean. No, not that kind, though hubs and I enjoy our share of that, too.

I’m talking about combing the web every morning for the latest tips, guides, and resources to spice up your sex life. Of course, we hope you include sharing sizzling scenes from our erotic romances – that’s why we write them, after all.

When we find something we like, we share it on our Facebook PAGEhop over there and “like” us to feed our finds into your Facebook newstream.

Already we love how this is enriching our own life. I’m an early riser, so most mornings by the time I take my husband his first cup of coffee, my brain is buzzing with sexy ideas I’ve found and I’m ready to plot new scenes and stories (or activities :)). We’re sure finding more ideas than we’ll be able to try out in one lifetime – but we’ll bring you the best of them, and sometimes also blog about them.

One of our faves is the Good Vibrations online magazine, The Buzz, at http://goodvibesblog.com. This morning, they had some great tips for staying present during sex – you know, not leaving our bodies or making the holiday to-do list or fostering anxious thoughts that take us away from the pleasure of the moment.

It’s a fabulous article packed with good advice. My personal favorite (and one I practice regularly) is #3: “Third, before sex, spend 30 minutes to an hour doing whatever makes you feel hot.” This can be a marvelous prelude to set the mood and ramp up the eroticism. It can be whatever works for you – perhaps a soothing bubble bath, your favorite adult videos, a massage with scented oils, or reading a spicy erotic scene, alone or together.

Here’s the link – enjoy!

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions? At our house, I always loved sitting in the living room with just the tree lights on, the marvelous scent of pine (it was always a real tree), Christmas carols playing, and at some point, touring the neighborhood Christmas lights. With any luck (and for probably half the Christmases of my adult life), a blanket of white snow added its reflection to the Christmasy glow.

This year will be a little different for us! Leaving our day jobs to pursue writing and editing full time has given us the opportunity to travel and take our work with us wherever we go. Right now we’re parked in our motorhome outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, in an RV resort, palm trees and all. Just for the record, palm trees were never part of my Christmas tradition! Clearly this year, we’ll need some new traditions.

The tree, for starters. Living in a motorhome, space is at a premium, but we did pack our two-foot fiber optic Christmas tree, and it now sits by the window on our dinette table, where it can be seen from outside. And yes, we have turned off all the lights and watched it glow.

The scent of pine? Not a problem. We don’t burn ordinary candles in such a tight space, but a friend of ours makes artisan soy candles that burn clean and leave no smoky residue. We brought them along, and you can bet there’s one with the perfect blend of Christmas reminders: mistletoe and balsam pine.

Touring the neighborhood Christmas lights? This was a surprise for me – I’ve never spent any December time in an RV resort. I had no clue year-rounders would put up Christmas lights, but they do, and each evening we’ve gone for a walk after dark to enjoy the them. A cute touch on several rigs is Santa hats on the top of each rear view mirror.

Christmas carols – we loaded up our playlists with every Christmas CD in the house before we left: traditional, Classical, Baroque, popular, Celtic, Native American…more hours of music than we’ll probably have time to listen to. No problem.

Snow? Well, the point of being in Nevada instead of the upper Midwest in December is to avoid snow and ice, so I’ll take a pass on the snow, I hope. We can, however, see a dusting of snow on the top of nearby mountain peaks, so I’ll simply hope it stays there and doesn’t creep down into the valley.

We’re loving this opportunity to set our own work schedule, choose where we want to spend our time, and sample places we’ve always wanted to see. We’re spending lots of time writing and will soon have announcements about more new books coming your way for the new year.

Meanwhile, here’s wishing you a marvelous holiday, whatever you celebrate. What are some of your favorite traditions?

As she peered into the reflective glass, a face appeared behind her. Jodie whipped around and fell back against the window.

Oh my fucking God!

Before her, in what looked like a shimmering bubble, stood the most breathtakingly beautiful man she’d ever seen. Dressed in a white shirt and black pants, he had dark unruly hair and striking, magnetic blue eyes that held her in place.

Jodie blinked, uncertain, scared and breathless.

How was it possible? She’d read the newspaper clippings, yes, but it was unimaginable to think ghosts might actually walk among the living.

Not everything made sense. She only believed in things that could actually be seen, felt and touched. This seemed surreal.

Stunned by the apparition before her, dressed in what looked like centuries-old clothes straight out of Esquire, he seemed to look straight through her, and his smile warmed her clear to her toes. Lord, she was in trouble.

“Hello.” Soft and gravelly, his voice alone seduced her…all the way to her toes. Her body quivered and her center tightened.

Whoa. What the hell am I thinking?  There’s a ghost in front of me and I’m ready to jump his bones. Not bloody likely.

“What are you doing here? Get out.  I don’t care who you are, you’re leaving, right now.”

He frowned. “No need to be frightened.  I’ve been here for centuries.”

Jodie laughed, and not one to wilt like a scared little girl, stood tall. “This is all a joke.” She looked around, up and down, and all over the room. “Are there hidden cameras somewhere?  Hey, Ashton, if you’re behind the camera, you can come out now.  I’ve been Punk’d good. Thanks and all, but I’d like to get on with my evening without you.”

“Who is this Ashton? What is a punk?  A rake, perhaps?” he asked.

Jodie squinted.  “A rake?”  She hadn’t ever heard that term spoken, but had read it in historical romances. No one talked like that these days. “No. Never mind, it’s not important. Listen, I just want you to go. I want to enjoy my evening.”

His smile was gentle. “I’m sorry, my dear, but this evening every decade is the only time I am visible to the human eye. I never miss a chance to watch the Falls.”

Every decade…

“You’re telling me you do this every ten years? How old are you?”

“I was born in 1781. That makes me—”

“Two hundred thirty-one,” Jodie whispered, legs weak. She grabbed the back of the chair nearby and sat down. Were such things even possible?

Jesus.

An eighteenth century ghost stood before her.

Merry Christmas to me.

Guest ~ Doris O’Connor Blog Tour

Today we’re thrilled to welcome Doris O’Connor, on the first stop of her blog tour for For The Love of Mutt. Be sure to scroll to the bottom for her tour giveaway!

Thanks so much for letting me hang out with your readers for a while, Adriana :)

I’m here to talk all things Christmas today, specifically my Christmas Story For The Love Of Mutt.

When I first heard about Breathless Press’ submission call for Christmas stories back in the summer, I thought to myself, “Hmm interesting…”, and filed it away, not thinking too much of it. However, my muse clearly latched onto that subject, because I kept hearing this jingle in my head.

“Holidays are coming … holidays are coming…”

You see, I live in the UK, and one way I always know Christmas is upon us, is when the advert comes on the telly. The Coca Cola one with Santa and that jingle ^^^.

Now, I quite like a can of coke, but I still don’t quite get what it has to do with Christmas. Christmas. Not the holidays, lol. It’s a bit of bug bear of mine, as it is for my heroine.

Anja turned the annoying jingle off with a flick of her finger, and blew a strand of hair off her face. She’d tied it up and out of the way, but as usual it had a mind of its own and had escaped her attempt at an elegant chignon. Holidays indeed! It was Christmas, for flip’s sake—time for carols and the season of goodwill—not political correctness gone mad. What did her dad always say? Without Christ in Christmas it would be just M&S. The store made great knickers and excellent food, but had little to do with the season of goodwill.

She licked the icing off her fingers and perused the small army of homemade cupcakes with a satisfied smile. Decked out in festive colors of red and green, they would bring much-needed cheer to the homeless shelter, and hopefully an influx of cash too. The cake sale was always popular. Declan wouldn’t be pleased at the detour, but they had to more or less drive past it on the way to his parents’, so he couldn’t object too much.

It was Christmas in a week’s time, and Anja was determined to make a difference this year. She had even prepared a Christmas cake for Declan’s parents, knowing full well that Lord and Lady Hemington would turn their aristocratic noses up at it, but Anja was done trying to please them. In fact, unless Declan stopped acting like a complete ass, he could kiss her pert behind on the way out.

Right on cue the doorbell rang and Anja suppressed a sigh at the impatient staccato of it. She took off the apron, smoothed down her simple black shift dress, stepped into her equally understated three-inch black court shoes, and buzzed the door open. No sooner had she completed boxing up the cakes than Declan stepped through the front door of her flat.

“There you are, but what on earth are you doing?” His cultured tones held a hint of impatience, and when his steely-gray gaze connected with hers, his brows drew together and his eyes darkened in temper. Before he could say anything else, she shoved the largest of the boxes containing the Christmas cake into his hands.

“I’d have thought that was obvious, Declan.” She ignored his pout and put the remaining boxes into two large cloth bags. “I know what you said, but I like baking, and I like giving personal gifts.”

Declan grunted, and continued to eye the box she’d given him, as though it were likely to detonate any minute. “My parents do not expect personal gifts. The hamper we bought them from Harrods will suffice. And who on earth are those for?” He gestured to the two bags in her hand. “And you’ve got icing all over your nose. I suggest you wash it off.”

Anja glanced at her reflection in the hallway mirror and, sure enough, a smudge of bright green icing was smeared across her nose and halfway up her cheek. She took the starched, monogrammed handkerchief Declan passed her and wiped the offending mixture away with a barely suppressed sigh. Had they really come to this? A year into their relationship and with Declan pushing her into setting a date for their marriage soon, all the passion seemed to have evaporated like mist in the sun.  Instead of kissing her and licking the icing off her nose, as she would have liked him to have done, every line of his body screamed his annoyance at her unreasonable behavior.

“There, better, my lord?” She couldn’t help but goad him a little, but he’d already turned his back on her and was striding out the door. She stuck her tongue out at his retreating back, and followed him down the steep stairs and out into the frigid air.

He tossed the cake box carelessly into the back of his Jaguar and by the time she’d carefully stashed her bags on the back seats, his fingers were drumming against the steering wheel. “Are you going to tell me what all those are for, or do I have to guess?”

“You know who they’re for. I told you last night.”

He revved the engine and put his foot down the minute she fastened the seatbelt.

“You cannot be serious. We’re hardly dressed for a visit to that part of town, and we’ll be late.”

***

As you may have guessed, Declan is not the hero! That would be Mutt, a frequent visitor to that homeless shelter. Follow me onto the next stop on my blog tour to meet him.

Blurb:

A homeless shelter at Christmas may seem an odd place to find one’s soul mate, but love knows no boundaries – or does it?

Anja has grown fond of the wolf like dog hanging around the shelter. With her soon to be ex -boyfriend putting pressure on her, her canine friend proves to be more reliable than any human could ever be. If only he were more than just a dog.

Helping others is not always easy to do, unless Ethan can do so undercover. However, hiding your true self brings problems of its own. Finding a mate had not been in Ethan’s plan of action, but Anja’s easy acceptance of Mutt breaks through all of his defenses.

The problem is he is not what he seems and will his deception by proxy prove the end of them before they even have a chance at love?

Author Bio:

Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris… at least that’s what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.

She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

The Next Big Thing!

Well, it finally happened – I got tagged! Fellow Extasy author Lynn Crain tagged me for The Next Big Thing blog – here’s a LINK to her post, do go check it out!

That means I get to do two things – tell all my readers about my current work in progress (my Next Big Thing), and tag some more peeps to tell you about their next big thing!

And… (drumroll) the authors I’m tagging are:

Kissa Starling

Elizabeth Black

Heaven O’Shey

Ju Ephraime

Here are my answers to the Next Big Thing questions:

What is your working title of your book? Aria Returns

Where did the idea come from for the book? Hubs and I (who write erotic romance together under our pen name) have always loved Aria, the Love Goddess from our very first published book, Colors of the Night. We tend to think she just might be real, and we know she has lots more stories to tell. The kernel of this one has been niggling at us ever since Aria materialized out of the Northern Lights in her erotic romance debut.

What genre does your book fall under? No surprise here – it’s erotic romance, with m/f, f/f, and three way menage f/f/m and m/f/m.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Amber Heath doesn’t believe in magic, much less a Love Goddess – can Aria reach her in time to help her heal and claim the love that’s waiting for her?

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? This book is under contract (yay!) with Extasy Books and will be released some time in 2013. Here’s its fabulous cover, by Martine Jardin:

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Good question – since it’s not quite finished! We’ve been working on this one off and on for a while – we hit a snag making the ending come out just right. Sometimes you have to set something aside until the characters are ready to speak to you. They’ve spoken, and we’re madly polishing the final draft as I write!

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? Time travel, exotic locations and experiences – and the challenge of forging a real relationship in this reality.

Guest ~ Elizabeth Black on tour!

Welcome to Adriana’s Blog ~ click HERE for my Wicked After Dark Blog Hop post!

Today we’re thrilled to welcome Elizabeth Black, on tour to promote two fabulous new twisted fairy tale releases. Take it away, Elizabeth!

Erotic Fairy Tales – Twists On Classics

By Elizabeth Black

I like fairy tales everyone has heard of such as Rapunzel and Puss In Boots. My two new erotic fairy tale retellings are about both of these tales. “Climbing Her Tower” is my erotic retelling of Rapunzel and “Trouble In Thigh High Boots” is my erotic retelling of “Puss In Boots.” In the future, I’m looking at “The Pied Piper of Hamlin,” “Cinderella,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Little Mermaid” to get my erotic touch.

That said, I also like fairy tales that are off the beaten track. One of my earliest short stories entitled “Fountain of Youth” is based on a Japanese fairy tale by the same name. The lesson is to be careful what you wish for. For more on that story, go to my “Short Stories” tab on my web site (link below).

My favorite fairy tale is a little known Scandinavian one called “The Enchanted Wreath”. It is about a man and wife, both of whom have daughters from previous marriages. Of course, as is usual in tales like this one, the man’s daughter is kind and pure of  heart whilst the woman’s daughter is a sullen, ungrateful git.  The good daughter goes into the woods one day to fetch wood and she runs into three doves perched on the ax, looking very forlorn. She gives them a bit of her bread and in response to her kindness they give her an unfading wreath of roses with tiny birds singing in it. When she returns home with the wood, the sullen daughter becomes jealous of her step-sister because of the enchanted wreath. The next day, the woman sends her sullen daughter into the woods to collect wood – and hopefully return with a wreath even more beautiful than the good daughter’s wreath. However, the sullen daughter throws stones at the doves and ordered them away, calling them “dirty creatures.” Her punishment is to be unable to say anything other than “dirty creatures” for the rest of her life. Her mother tries all sorts of balms and ointment on the girl’s tongue to break the spell but she continues to say only “dirty creatures.” Then a prince comes by, falls in love with the good daughter, and takes her away to marry her. The woman is distraught, and she pays a witch to make a mask of the good daughter. She makes her sullen daughter wear the mask and visit the good daughter. At that point, the sullen daughter throws the good daughter into a lake and puts herself in her step-sister’s place beside the prince, who is upset over her sudden change but attributes it to illness. He thinks he sees the good daughter in the lake and tries twice to catch her until he succeeds. She turns into a hare, a fish, a bird, and lastly a snake. The prince cuts off the snake’s head and the good daughter returns to her lovely human form. Once the prince and the good daughter learn what the woman and the sullen daughter had done, they banish the two to a deserted island rather than put them to death.

Below are buy links and blurbs for both “Climbing Her Tower” and “Trouble In Thigh High Boots”. I’ve included an excerpt from “Climbing Her Tower” for your reading pleasure.

CLIMBING HER TOWER

Blurb:

Rapunzel has never known life outside her tower. She has never felt the company of a human being other than Mother, and she has never been in close contact with a man – until Prince Richard of Norwich climbs into her tower one dark night and sweeps her off her feet. Prince Richard introduces Rapunzel to erotic pleasures beyond her wildest dreams, and she wants more! In order to make her both his wife and his sex slave, Prince Richard needs to spirit her away from that tower, but Mother stands in his way. Prince Richard and Rapunzel begin a tantalizing and dangerous adventure in order to be together as one. And “let down your hair” takes on an entirely new meaning in their fevered embraces.

Excerpt:

Stars shined in the sky when she heard, “Let down your hair!” Why would Mother come to visit her late at night? She visited only during the day. Always a good girl who did what she was told, she coiled her hair around the hook and struggled once again with the braid, feeling the weight as Mother climbed her tresses. She seemed heavier than usual this evening, maybe because Rapunzel was tired.

When a tall, strapping man climbed through her window, she drew back in both fear and … something else. Her skin tingled and her heart raced, but she didn’t know why. What kind of effect did this man she recognized from the meadow earlier that day have on her?

“Please don’t be afraid,” he said. “I heard your beautiful voice and I needed to see you up close. You’re more beautiful here in front of me than you are from a distance.”

So he heard me sing… She wondered if he was a god like Zeus (Mother read to her about Zeus), and would he take her by force the way the manly Zeus had taken women in the Greek myths? Despite her confusion, she felt a rush of heat course through her body and her skin rose in goose bumps of excitement at the mere presence of him. His smell was intoxicating – of oiled leather and sweat – and she inhaled deeply to immerse herself in his scent. Her entire body tingled in anticipation of what he might do to her, and she realized with a bit of alarm that she wanted him in her tower, alone, to be at his mercy.

She tried to step toward him but her hair held her in place. She turned to her braid and yanked it bit by bit up the tower. The lovely man came to her side, dragging her heavy tresses up the tower and helping her untangle them from the hook until she stood before him, hair free, piled in a mountain at her feet.

“May I touch you? You seem too heavenly to be real.” His strong hand alighted on her shoulder, sending ripples of pleasure up and down her arm. What was happening to her? Why was her heart racing so quickly that she couldn’t catch her breath? Why did the mere touch of this man make her jump? What would it be like to feel his clean-shaven cheek or – better yet – place one small hand on his massive chest to feel the beat of his heart?

He rubbed her blouse at the hem. “What’s this made of? It’s very soft.”

“My hair. I knit clothing from my hair to pass the time.” Taking a chance, she placed her palm against his chest and felt the rise and fall of his rapid breathing. “Who are you?”

“I’m Richard, Prince of Norwich, the ruler of this land. I’ve seen your tower before but I had never seen you in it. What’s your name? Why are you here?”

“My name is Rapunzel. I live here.”

“Such a lovely name… Don’t you want to leave, to see the world around you? There’s an entire town behind your tower.”

Surprised, she thought the meadow surrounded her tower for many miles, isolating her in her loneliness. “So that’s why I hear engines and smell food cooking but I can’t figure out where it’s coming from.”

He took her in his arms, and she didn’t fight his embrace. His grip around her body was firm yet gentle, and she buried her face in his long, charcoal hair. “Let me take you away from here.”

Did she want to leave? She felt safe in her tower but she yearned to run in the long meadow grass far from it, or feel the wind blow through her hair as she rode behind him on his horse. Yes, I want to go, but how? Mother will never let me leave here.

“Take me away with you,” she said.

“Yes, I shall take you far from this tower. How long have you lived here?”

“My whole life.”

“But why? Who would keep you imprisoned here?”

“My mother, but I’m not imprisoned. She’s protecting me.”

“From what? There is nothing in the world to be afraid of. Quite the opposite. I want to show you the world, my fair one. But first, I must touch you.” He brushed her long hair out of her eyes. “May I?”

“Touch me where?”

“Here.” He lowered his face until his lips brushed against hers, like a breeze through the heather in the meadow. Never before kissed by a man, she froze in both fear and arousal, alert to his touch but unable to move. His lips traveled from hers to her cheek, her chin, and her neck, and upon reaching her throat, she gasped with excitement. Yes, she wanted to feel his lips upon her skin, his hands upon her body. Why had Mother kept her in this tower, away from the world? What was out there that scared Mother so?

His gentle touch aroused more goose bumps on her sensitive skin, eager for teasing and the feel of his wet tongue on her warm flesh. His mouth sucked on her skin, bringing forth a gasp of breath from her in both alarm and excitement. She wrapped her arms around his back, slowly at first, and then with more urgency. He felt rugged and manly, qualities she had only heard about but never before experienced.

Her first man pressed his firm lips against the pulse in her throat, and she felt the stubble on his jaw against her tender skin. So this is what a man feels like! So strong and firm, hard yet gentle all at once. Her head spun with the fever of his kisses against her throat and she stretched her head back to give him more room. Heart racing in her chest, she felt the pulsing sinews on his back through his frock coat and then, with trepidation, moved her shaking hands to his broad chest, palms exploring every inch of his luscious body. Strong arms, ripped with muscles, wrapped around her body and held her so tightly he nearly lifted her from the floor.

Stars spun before her eyes and she felt light-headed with arousal and excitement. His hands pressed against her delicate back with such force, she feared he would snap her in two. His touch stirred deep emotions in her that she both feared and relished; she wanted to give her will over to her arousal and to his desire. Her head spun in the throes of his stimulating kiss as his lips traveled from her throat to her waiting mouth. He crushed his lips against hers, taking her breath away, and her head spun in ecstasy.

As he parted her lips with his own he slipped in his tongue. At first alarmed, since she had never heard of such a kiss, she struggled against him; but in his tight grip, she was helpless to escape. His tongue explored her mouth, brushing against her teeth, and she gave into his amorous moves. He tasted of brandy and tobacco, a heady combination. Dizzy with the thrill of his touch, she pulled her head away from him when he released her pouting mouth; but she was eager to taste more of him.

“You feel so beautiful,” he whispered in her ear as his lips pressed against her jaw. “May I lift your skirts? I want to see your legs.”

Once again, she nodded without speaking. She wanted to feel his hands upon her body. She’d watched him from her tower for days now, enamored of his curiosity, wondering what he looked like. She knew him from a distance, and now he was up close, touching her, arousing her. He lifted her skirts and moaned in delight at what he saw.

Destiny Blaine ~ On Tour!

Today we’re thrilled to welcome best selling author Destiny Blaine, on tour to promote Book One in her new series, Trilogy of a Wolf’s Endowment. Take it away, Destiny!

The wild side is an interesting stretch of territory where only the courageous survive.

Joe Kramer is a simple-minded young man tending farm with his father. When a neighbor needs a lift, his father sends him out to give the woman a ride. Soon, a Moonlight Clan Council member has her claws in Joe, leaving him a changed man.

Accepting his fate, Joe joins a wolf pack steeped in history and tradition, but someone among them is threatening to tear their pack apart. To make matters worse, as the pack master, Joe rebukes the traditions of the past while ignoring the mandated placement of two mates.

As he leads his pack to a position of strength, Joe will stand out as the clear Alpha destined to protect the East Tennessee Moonlight Clan Council, but will his lack of experience and immaturity cost the clan what they cherish most? And who, if anyone, will stand beside him when he fights to protect those closest to home?

“What is it?” he asked, now longing to feel that spurt of heat, the end result one finally reached when pleasure sought became pleasure gained.

“You’re beautiful,” she rasped, cupping his cheek. “More handsome than I ever imagined.”

Her words drove him. Her praise consoled him. Through her, he was transformed and now he was larger than life. He bracketed his arm around her waist and drew her against him, noting the tightly drawn muscles as he gathered her small form and brought her to him.

A loud noise whipped around them like tornado winds. The truck window split in two, shattering into bits and pieces right before his very eyes. Animalistic instincts drove him as he thrust inside her, unable to stop and acknowledge the happenings around him.

His arousal heightened, reaching a peak he’d never expected. And something else occurred, too. The need to guard and protect, love and cherish, came over him like a breaking tide, leaving him torn between what he knew he’d felt before he took Rebecca and the feelings practically suffocating him now.

A deep-rooted howl fell from his chest. Canines jabbed through his gums, dropping over his bottom lip without warning. Elongated nails were the first inclination his fingers were no longer attached to hands, but to claws.

“What’s happening to me?” he asked, his senses sharper, far more profound.

“You were determined to resist me. You wanted to be difficult,” Rebecca told him, sliding away from his lap. “You should’ve let me get you off, lover. I would’ve bitten you at the right time and you wouldn’t have had to deal with him.” She pointed to the window.

Joe immediately recognized the man Rebecca fingered in an effort to place blame. Jacob.

“Now, Joe, you’re on your own.”

Anal Sex and Erotica

Okay, I read lots of erotica. Hubs and I write erotica and erotic romance together, and we include anal play in nearly every book we write. Why? Because we love it. Both of us love it.

So I am always distressed when I read scenes by other authors in which anal intercourse is portrayed as painful. There is no need, ever, for the receiving party to experience pain. If pain occurs (and if the participants aren’t seeking pain, which is another story), both participants haven’t paid enough attention to preparation and lubrication. That doesn’t sound very loving or romantic to me.

Most of the scenes I’m referring to follow the painful anal entry with exquisite pleasure, making clear the recipient believes the pain is worth it. I don’t doubt that it’s worth it – I just don’t think pain is a necessary price to pay.

So I was very pleased to see sex educator Charlie Glickman’s Blog today about recent research on anal sex and women. The study he’s discussing found that nearly half of the heterosexual women in their sample who’d experienced anal intercourse in the last year had to discontinue the experience due to pain or discomfort. Glickman goes on to suggest what follow-up questions should be asked to uncover the causes of painful anal intercourse – and, hopefully, to lead to solutions that prevent pain and increase pleasure.

The crucial ingredients to prevent pain? In my experience, attitude, education, lubrication and preparation. Did hubs and I always love it? Speaking for myself here, no. I started out with a negative attitude and didn’t even want to go there. He accepted that. But once we started using videos to spice up our bedroom encounters, I had a chance to watch others receiving anal pleasure, and my attitude shifted. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to keep our sex lives fresh and innovative.

The next step, of course, was education. We had help from two sources here and I highly recommend both of them: the Better Sex Guide to Anal Pleasure (available HERE), and Nina Hartley’s Guide to Anal Pleasure (available HERE).

Lubrication and preparation? Self explanatory, I hope. And both elements can be an extended source of sexual pleasure all by themselves, whether or not they culminate in anal penetration for either partner.

So those are the kinds of anal scenes we write in our novels – tender, caring, sensual, arousing, and explicitly exciting. We hope you enjoy them!

New Release ~ Triple Play

I’m so excited ~ Swinging Games Book Ten has just been released at eXtasy Books! Scroll to the bottom for my contest!

Hubs and I feel like we can’t get this couple’s adventures in the swing lifestyle down on the page fast enough – they’re definitely hard to keep up with, and they take no prisoners in their quest to keep their sex life vibrant and vigorous through their mid-life years. Well, maybe Jen sort of took a prisoner…

Jen and Brett have been spending the summer with their house guest, the recently widowed Sarah Creston. Jen’s possessiveness has ignited jealousy in the couple’s long term swing buddies, their neighbors Ryan and Donna, who now aren’t speaking to them. Even Brett’s been worried what will happen next.

Here’s cover, blurb and excerpt ~ enjoy!

Threesomes are so tempting…but can they last?

 Heat Rating: Five Flames ~ f/f, m/f, menage, m/f/f, f/f/f and more

BLURB

Summer looks full of promise for swingers Jen and Brett Andrews—ever since Sarah Creston’s arrival, three-way possibilities for mind-shattering sex seem endless. Secretly, Jen’s a little pleased their best friends Donna and Ryan Powers still aren’t speaking. This way, Jen doesn’t have to share.

Thrilled with her new lifestyle, Sarah makes up for lost time and wants to taste everything—but even she can feel the rift. Ever classy, Sarah resolves to do what’s right and reach out to Donna, no matter the risk. Can she prevent the train wreck, or will Jen and Donna derail her efforts? And if she succeeds, would some three-way makeup sex with the two women be too much to hope for?

EXCERPT

“I can’t tell you how well loved my body feels this morning.” Enjoying the slow smile creeping across Brett’s face, Sarah took a bite of toast. “You guys were awesome last night and I love being awakened with you dragging your stiff cock up and down my pussy slit. I was soaking by the time I could open my eyes.”

“I noticed,” Brett said, now grinning from ear to ear. “It was fun watching your nips enlarge as Jen tapped each one to get their attention.”

“She’s good,” Sarah acknowledged, “you both are. Speaking of Jen—she seems to be moving a little slowly this morning.” She gave Brett a wink. “You really screwed her royally last night. I’ve never seen you that aggressive.”

“That’s what she said she wanted.”

“Oh, I heard her. And I doubt she has any regrets. Still, she’s moving a little slower than usual.”

Brett pushed his chair back from the table at the sound of phone ringing.

“I’ll get it!” Jen shouted down the stairs.

Brett lifted a cup of coffee and swallowed deeply. “Damn, you make excellent coffee. I like mine black. You sure use a lot cream in yours.”

Sarah grinned. “I like cream. You should know that by now.”

Brett coughed. “You had Jen creaming nicely this morning. She doesn’t do that for everyone.”

“Maybe I’m more talented than I thought.”

“You’re talented, girl—damn talented. I know Alice and Jen would both agree. You seem to have a way with those long fingers of yours.”

She playfully stuck an index finger in her mouth and sucked slowly before withdrawing it and sticking her tongue out at him.
