This week’s theme is My Sexy Dreamer. Do you have dreams and fantasies? Of course you do – and so do we. We’re excited that our heroine Carol is about to have one of her dreams come true, just in time for Christmas. It’s Christmas Eve—

Mack and Carol are relaxing in their hot tub under the starry north woods sky a couple weeks before Christmas:

“Tara will be alone this year–it’s been eight months since she broke up with her boyfriend,” Carol said. “I think we should invite her for Christmas Eve. Are you okay with that? I know Christmas Eve is a special time for you. Well, for both of us.”

“No, of course. We can share some of our Christmas Eve traditions with Tara. Maybe she has some, too.”

“And if we get too sloshed, she can stay over.”

“If we stay up until midnight to usher in Christmas like we usually do, the temperature is going to be well below zero. She can stay over if she wants. We’ll need to be sure she has enough presents to unwrap. But…there is one thing.” Mack gave Carol a quizzical look.

“What’s that?” The reflection from the hot tub showed her naughty expression.

“Our Christmas morning playtime. Our Christmas morning fuck.”

Carol giggled. “It’s a tradition. Do you think maybe Tara might enjoy playing with us?”

“Together?” He knew he sounded dumb. This wasn’t the first time his wife had dangled that possibility before him.

“Well, I doubt we’d need separate rooms. What do you think? Wouldn’t Tara make a delightful Christmas gift?

He quickly decided he needed more information before answering that question. Was there a wrong answer?

Congratulations, Caitlyn

Hubs and I are thrilled with Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair coverage and the warm reception she’s received for coming out. We’re happy and excited for her, and we hope this helps transgendered persons everywhere find self-acceptance, experience social acceptance, and ultimately reach total equality on all fronts.

Her lovely appearance and genuine smiles sent my thoughts to transgendered persons we’ve known personally – persons without her resources, persons who don’t look “beautiful” in the traditional sense, persons whose bodies make it more difficult for the casual observer to recognize their gender.

So I was especially grateful to find yesterday’s Tumblr post by Laverne Cox, who appeared on the cover of Time Magazine’s issue “The Transgender Tipping Point” a year ago. She congratulated Caitlyn, of course – but then she pointed out many trans persons either can’t or don’t wish to conform to “cisnormative beauty standards,” about which she said the following: “For me it is necessary everyday to celebrate every aspect of myself, especially those things about myself that don’t align with other people’s ideas about what is beautiful.”

That’s what we wish, for everyone.

April is LGBT+ Month at Laura Plus Books

I know, I know, it’s not April yet – but that means there’s plenty of time for YOU to sign up and get involved in celebrating LGBT+ fiction all through April over at Laura Plus Books!

Here’s the scoop, straight from the mouths of organizers Cayce at Fighting Dreamer and Laura at Laura Plus Books.

This event has no real rules. All you have to do is read and share LGBT+ books. At least one book or one post! Try to spread the acceptance of LGBT+. You don’t need to have a blog. You can have a YouTube channel, you can review books on Goodreads and/or you can use the hashtag #LGBTApril on Twitter!

Different things we’ll be doing during April are reviews, giveaways, guest posts, discussions, everything! We really hope you can too! There will also be Twitter parties! At the beginning of each week, we’ll post a Linky. There, you can link-up all your different posts. You can read all the things other people are posting too.

Do you blog? You can blog about LGBT+ books, interview some LGBT+ authors, and link your posts each week for others to see.

Are you an author of LGBT+ books? You can post about your books and link your posts, or you might like to click on some of the blogger links and offer to be interviewed.

YouTube? Twitter? Goodreads? Other outlets? Post away, and come back and share your links.

Hubs and I will be there, with bells on (which has me wondering exactly what that means, maybe it’s kinky :)). We’d love to host you on our blog if you’re an LGBT+ author or blogger, and we’d be happy to be interviewed, as well.

Having said all that, I just have to share – one of our recent LGBT releases just received a 4.5 star review!

REVIEW

In a word, delicious. Like a box of fine chocolates, each one unique and hand-crafted, a little something for everyone. I’ve been savoring the eighteen stories in D. L. King’s most recent collection, The Harder She Comes (Cleis Press, 2012), for over two months, rationing them out, tasting each one thoroughly, pausing to pay attention to the details that most speak to me, and not wanting to pick up the next one too quickly, for fear of spoiling the lingering sensual aftertaste of the one I’ve just finished.

Some favorites:

“Winner Take All,” by Andrea Dale. This one stood out for the unexpectedness of the encounter, the unrehearsed serendipity of seizing the moment and going for it.

“Born to Ride,” by Beth Wylde. A snappy dressed-to-the-nines femme decides I know what I like and I’m not afraid to go after it.

“Birthday Butch,” by Teresa Noelle Roberts, for its layers of control and submission, the heady mix of soft curves and steel.

“The Bucket List,” by Charlotte Dare, for being a well told cougar story with just the right balance of lust, romance and bravery.

“Tamales,” by Kathleen Bradean. I love stories that propel me from humor and hot banter and laughter right to the very heart of what it is to be filled with love, and this one delivers. My favorite lines: “There was nothing like a lover you knew when you were in a hurry. Confident touches in all the right places; curves that fit together like memory; fingertips that glided over heated skin; shared gasps between soul kisses.”
