Slowly, Mason opened one eyelid and then the other to see Susan eyeing him thoughtfully.

She slanted a finger across her lips and gestured toward a snoozing Jamie. “All of the built-up tension over the last several days must’ve drained her,” Susan whispered.

Mason nodded, but he didn’t know quite what was expected of him—of them—now. If Jamie was awake, she’d sort things out, but she was asleep.

Susan’s eyes sparkled. She leaned closer and flicked her tongue at his ear. “Let’s go get some water. We both probably need to replenish before turning our attention to Jams.”

“Sure,” Mason said, moving carefully off the bed, with Susan following. She was behaving as if nothing momentous had occurred. Okay, he could do that.

He led the way downstairs to the kitchen. Neither of them had bothered with a wrap. He grabbed a water from the fridge for Susan, took one for himself, and then another for Jamie.

“So,” Susan said after downing a quarter of a bottle of water, “was that as surprising to you as it was to me? You can be completely honest with me. We don’t have Jams here trying to put the best spin on everything. It’s just you and me.”

“So it is. Honesty has to be a foundation, no matter how all of this works out in the long run.”

“If it even has a chance to work out in the long run.”

“Exactly. To answer your question, I didn’t really know what to expect.” He shook his head. “That was mind blowing, that’s for sure.”

Susan arched an eyebrow. “But what it means remains up in the air?”

“True. No matter what Jamie thinks, a spectacular afternoon of sex isn’t going to produce what she’s hoping for.”

Susan winced.

I’ve cooked a few dinners for you guys, but most of time he comes, you go out, you come back, and you fuck like two wildcats. I’m surprised the neighbors haven’t complained. And he’s usually gone before I’m up in the morning. And lately you’ve been spending much more time at his house than at our apartment…for your love nest activities, that is. I must say that’s easier on me. I get more sleep, and I don’t have to imagine what you and he are doing to each other.”

“That’s it?”

Eden had been dreading this day since the moment her sister, Carol, had announced she was getting married. A wedding was supposed to be a happy occasion, a cause for celebration. But not when your sister was marrying the brother of your ex-best friend.

Well you wouldn’t, would you? Eden thought, trying hard not to let her emotions show on her face. You’ve never been confused about your sexuality and come on to your best friend, have you? But she kept quiet, determined not to ruin her sister’s special day.

“Can you even remember what happened?” Carol continued, thanking the hairdresser and standing up. She moved over to the full-length mirror in the room and examined herself from every angle. The hairdresser held up another mirror so the bride could see the back of her hair. She nodded.

Set-up: Sometimes showing is more powerful than telling. Since both Meg and Lisa are actresses, they’ve told Bryce they need a photo shoot for some upcoming plays…

Hearing the women enter at last, Bryce looked up from his work. He blinked. They were dressed alike. If one wasn’t a redhead and one a blonde, they would’ve been difficult to tell apart. They wore very short wrap-around green skirts trimmed in yellow. Bare midriffs were set off by sheer white tops. Clearly neither wore a bra. Meg’s nipples were darker than Lisa’s. Lisa’s nipples stood out, as if she was turned on. Their feet were adorned in tiny felt boots.

Bryce wet his lips and tried to steady his breathing. He smiled as each woman placed a matching green elf-like hat on the other woman’s head.

“Merry Christmas,” they said, turning to blow him a kiss.

“Do that again,” Bryce said, grabbing his camera. “I wasn’t prepared for your grand entrance.”

Bryce snapped pic after pic as the women knelt on the couch facing each other. They giggled and played a patty-cake game. Their boobs rose and fell in unison.

As if one, they turned to face him, “We’re Santa’s helpers. Have you been naughty or nice?” They leaned forward and brushed lips. Again, looking back at him they sang out, “We’ve been nice and naughty. Can’t you see?”

Bryce didn’t think they expected a response from him. Maybe their intended audience would laugh, cheer and applaud. He moved about, getting pics from as many angles as he could manage. Damn, they looked enticing. Bryce shook his head, hoping his cock wouldn’t move beyond half-mast. At least he had on loose-fitting trousers.

Through the lens he watched the two women hug, crushing their breasts between them. In that pose they turned and winked at the camera. He watched Lisa lower a hand to cup Meg’s ass as Meg did the same. Their skirts scrunched almost to waist high. Bryce blinked. “That can’t be helped. Now is now. How are you going to take what apparently will be a leap of faith?”

“I don’t know. I thought maybe you could help—that you might think of something I haven’t yet. I’ve thought of simply blurting it out in the middle of lovemaking. Maybe he’d like another woman to join us. I’ve thought of writing a letter, but that seems too clinical and detached. I keep wringing my hands over this, but I can’t get the words out.”

“I take it you’re not ready to give up women.”

“I know. I know. Maybe that’s the crux of the matter. My heart knows the magic of two women being together as well as the magic of a woman and a man. I don’t want to lose either.”

EXCERPT

Slamming the door behind him, Jonathan leaned his back against it. In short, hard gasps, he took deep breaths, not realizing he’d been holding onto it until then. Thankfully, the feeling of oppression faded and Jonathan began to relax. He stood there by the door for some time, listening for someone, or something, moving outside. When he heard nothing, he let out a sigh of relief and began to step away. He yelped when he caught sight of a movement, but when he saw his reflection staring back at him, he closed his eyes and let out a sigh to the ceiling. A wet and cold touch caressed the length of his neck.

“Jonathan.”

Jonathan opened his eyes, paralyzed as he watched himself in the mirror. His heart raced faster than before, and he couldn’t breathe. At the same time, the feeling of impending doom swamped over him. His heart beat rapidly in his throat, the sound, deafening in his ears. He was very sure that a man had spoken his name. Jonathan couldn’t recall feeling that frightened in his life. The shower in the bathroom turned off, and he heard Rafe whistling a tune, but instead of calling out to him, Jonathan continued to stare at his lone reflection, unable to understand how the voice had spoken right next to his ear. If he were to reflect on that touch, he could swear it had been a tongue. When the bathroom door opened behind him made him jump, he turned around, fist drawn up to hit whoever it was that was playing pranks on him. Rafe stood in the doorway, bare except for a damp towel around his waist. Jonathan slowly lowered his fist, fighting his rising urge to run like a coward and schooled his features.

AUTHOR BIO

I am a wife, mother and blogger by day, a writer by night. It can be difficult, to say the least, but it is a challenge that keeps me on my toes.

I grew up listening to folk tales my father and nannies told either to entertain us children or to send home a message. These narratives I kept with me and finally, I wrote them down in a journal way back when I kept one. Going through junk led to a long forgotten box and in it was the journal. Reading the stories of romance, science fiction and horror I had taken time to put to paper, brought to light that these were tales I never met in my readings.

The tales I write are fictional but all of them are based on what I grew up with and still dream about. That they have an M/M twist is simply for my pleasure. And I hope, yours as well.
