EXCERPT

“You know,” Jack continued, jutting his chin, “you still want me to—I believe your words were—to make you a woman?”

“Yes, of course.” Bobbi Jo met his gaze. “Did you think I’d change my mind?”

She had guts. He’d give her credit for that. “Just checking.”

“Well, I haven’t. When can we get on with it?” She grimaced. “I mean, when can we continue?”

“When I say so,” he declared icily.

Bobbi Jo stiffened. “Well, you don’t have to get huffy about it.”

Jack interlocked his fingers with hers and squeezed.

“Ouch.” She tried to pull back.

He held on until she stopped resisting. “Let’s get a few things straight, Bobbi Jo. You came to me. I didn’t come to you.”

Her eyebrows shot up, but she nodded her agreement.

“I’ve got something you want. A cock.” Her eyes flared. “And knowledge of how to use it. Right?”

She swallowed and slowly raised and lowered her head again.

“Good. And I’m willing to help you the best that I can.” She visibly relaxed a bit and he added, “But I’m not going to let you mess up my life. I kind of like things the way they are.”

“I’m only going to be here a short while.”

“That may be way too long, unless you follow the rules.”

Sexy from the back row… #MSS175 #MySexySaturday #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday Week 175, where authors tease you with seven sentences or paragraphs from their sexy stories!

This week’s theme is “Sexy About Town—perhaps at your local cafe, the gym, where you work…what if you’re a professor, and she turns up in your lecture hall?

Whose mask will crumble first—

the enigmatic professor of Celtic Studies,

the undercover cop masquerading as a co-ed,

or the campus stalker, biding his time to strike again?

Romantic Suspense

Four flames   Explicit sex: m/f

EXCERPT

So who was the mystery woman? Matt Bayfield gathered his notes and glanced toward the newcomer standing in the rear of the lecture hall. He’d been offering this lecture series for nearly a year, roughly every six weeks. This fall, only three freshmen had inquired about last year’s handouts. The dark-haired female in the back wasn’t one of them.

Odd that she’d sit in the last row, because most women, especially those as comely as the co-ed with full lips and watchful eyes, wanted to sit up front to impress him—as if he were looking. He didn’t expect to be hanging around Trillium, Minnesota long enough to develop any romantic interests. And he had an ironclad rule against such liaisons with students.

Nonetheless, the woman in the bulky gray sweater and black slacks didn’t fit. Matt prided himself on having honed some keen observation skills in his fieldwork as a sociologist. The other students chattered with one another. The interloper remained silent and observant, almost aloof.

Bayfield recoiled. Aloof—that was what Carol Macy accused him of being. He’d found it ironic that it was his lesbian colleague who seemed most concerned about his lack of romantic relationships. Her periodic nagging was an irritant he chose to put up with because he counted Carol as his best friend at Blackthorn College—one of few.

He shrugged into a tweed sports jacket. Snapping his briefcase closed, he looked up into two of the most calculating gray eyes he’d ever encountered. They belonged to the woman from the back row.

“You’re kidding!” Bobbi Jo’s eyes widened with shock.

“Do I look like I’m kidding? What will it be?” Jack chuckled, taunting her. “Are you joining me in the classroom, or are you going to run back to your tight-assed banker?”

Bobbi Jo’s hands rose to her reddening neck.

“Just talking about sex has your heart pumping strong, doesn’t it?” Her slight shake of the head told him what he already knew.

“Damn, you’re going to be an able student. I don’t wait well, Bobbi Jo. Are you in or out? Your master is about to ring the bell. And I’ll let you know when it’s time for recess.” He tilted his head.

Bobbi Jo parted her lips. “I’m in.”

It’s Definitely Raining #MSS174 #MySexySaturday #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday Week 174! This week’s theme is My Sexy Rainy Afternoon.

Hubs and I love rainy afternoons, especially when we don’t have to go anywhere or do anything specific. We’ll just leave you with that image and hope you take advantage of your own opportunities…

Tracy’s rainy afternoon hardly starts out romantic – but it’s going to send her life into a complete 180 and turn it upside down. Here’s how it all got started:

Threatened race horses, city slicker attorney, sexy California wrangler—what can possibly go wrong?

EXCERPT

Traci Steele peered through the rain-splattered windshield of her rental car trying to focus on the taillights ahead. She’d climbed the foothills east of San Diego for nearly an hour. Abruptly, the traffic slowed to a snail’s pace.

Why so slow? The rain was letting up some. Traci loosened her grip on the steering wheel to rub first one forearm and then the other.

She squinted trying to read the orange road sign. Damn. The sign grew clearer with each few feet she advanced: Detour Ahead.

A lanky deputy sheriff leaned down to answer her unasked question. “Sorry, ma’am, the road is closed. We had an oil tanker jackknife and roll on the slick pavement. This road likely won’t be reopened until sometime tomorrow.”

“I’m headed for Buteo. To the Live Oak Resort.”

“No problem. Just stay on this route we’re sending traffic over.” The deputy gestured toward the narrow road to Traci’s right. “About a mile down that road you’ll have an option to come back to the main road you’re on now. Don’t take it. This detour is actually a short cut to Buteo, and the views can be spectacular. Just don’t try going too fast.”

“Thanks.” Traci nodded, raking fingers through her hair. “I won’t be rushing on these roads.”

She took the right-hand turn. A small paint-chipped sign read Buteo Canyon Road. Another stated Open Range. What did that mean?

Three miles farther the road climbed sharply. It twisted and wove its way through deep ravines and across a dried-up creek bed. A bright yellow sign proclaimed Dip Subject to Flooding. Easing closer, she looked up and down the ravine as far as she could see, then sped across. Safe, for the moment, anyway.

BLURB

She won’t be safe for long…

Hot-shot Chicago prosecuting attorney Traci Steele works tirelessly keeping rapists off the street to prevent other women from suffering the hell she’s endured, so she resists her friends’ insistence that she take a two month R&R in their California Live Oak condo—until they persuade her to help their rancher friend as a private investigator

Though he runs the stables at Live Oak, well-muscled mustached wrangler Scott McCord much prefers working with the race horses he trains at his ranch, and he can’t believe his old friends have sent a greenhorn female to help him with horse troubles.

The improbable dance between this mismatched pair barely fits in around the escalating suspense of whoever’s after Scott’s horses. Traci is as tenacious in her sleuthing as she is terrified about her inability to ever love a man. Can Scott succeed in gentling her – like he does his horses – before she flees in panic?

KINK WITH A TWIST #MWTease #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to Midweek Tease, hosted by Angelica Dawson, where authors tease you with a little something to help you stay warm till the weekend…

How do you define kink? Turns out it can be pretty broad and encompass great variety. One person’s kink may be another person’s vanilla. I’m not sure exactly how Kitty Paige and Jared Jacobs would describe their preferences, but I think most would probably agree they’ve moved beyond vanilla.

The Best ManKitty is a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners kind of gal. While my husband and I were writing this story, we kept wondering what she’d pull next in her effort to push Jared past his limits so he wouldn’t be a threat. She was full of surprises – for us, and for him.

Some of the internet banter has to do with the difference between kink and fetish. That, too, would be a difficult distinction in The Best Man. Kitty’s favorite color – one she often boldly wears – is yellow. In a flirty note accompanying yellow roses he sends after their disastrous first meeting, Jared calls her his “vision in yellow.” In the excerpt below, he’s contemplating what gift to send next, and you can see where his fantasies run: he selects a silk scarf.

The scarf becomes a central focus in their sex play – kink with a twist – so much so that it nearly became a character in its own right. Their play is what some would call soft BDSM, since there’s no major pain involved and each plays the dom in turn. Each of them uses the scarf not just for its erotic impact, but as a foil against which they work out issues of trust, power, control and submission, moment by moment and in their evolving relationship. We’re not sure either of them was prepared for what would ensue from Jared’s simple choice, but we know readers will enjoy the sizzling steam as their relationship heats up.

EXCERPT

Whistling to himself, Jared walked into his bedroom, where he’d already laid out the day’s clothes. It was time to select the next salvo for softening up Kitty Paige.

Was she fantasizing about him at all? He sure hoped so. He didn’t like the thought of doing all the fantasizing.

What next? He didn’t want to appear overly eager. He’d wait a week, but it wasn’t too soon to consider his next step. He thought of Kitty’s below-the-shoulder length blond hair. She’d worn it pouffed up for the wedding, with half of it falling over one shoulder and the rest down her back. It wasn’t difficult at all to imagine drawing the blond tresses over a breast, using them to play hide and seek with a nipple.

Would her nipples harden quickly or would they rise slowly?

Jared tugged his trousers up over his arousal and tucked his shirt in. Carefully, he buckled the belt.

Did she ever wear her hair up? She’d look stunning with it up. Not that she didn’t with it down.

He chuckled, toying with that image. A scarf. A yellow scarf. A yellow Thai silk scarf, like he’d seen in Bangkok. A long one, with long fringes. She could wear it around her forehead and let the tails fall down her back. Or she might lie naked on a bed and let the tails fall forward. Would they reach to her pussy, prompting another game of hide and seek?

His decision made, he reached for the bedside phone to make the arrangements. He wished he could see her face when she’d seen the roses and the card. Damn, he wished he could see her when she ran the yellow silk scarf through her fingers. Would she appreciate its beauty? Would she run the pads of her fingers over it wishing she was running them over his flesh? Would her wrists tingle, aware the scarf would be perfect for binding them?

Jared jerked himself alert at the demanding voice on the phone. “Yes,” he said at last, “I’m here. I’d like to place an order—a rush order.”

Midweek Tease ~ Download if you Dare #MWTease #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to Midweek Tease, hosted by Angelica Dawson, where authors tease you with a little something to help you stay warm till the weekend…

Five Stars? One Star? Smoking hot? Sleazy?

All of the above? Kitty Paige and Jared Jacobs would embrace the entire spectrum of reader reviews and laugh all the way to their next hot scene, and they’d hold nothing back when they got there.

The Best ManPersonally, we love Kitty’s bold approach to life and sexuality. But don’t download this book unless you’re ready for some edgy characters who enjoy things like man-sandwiches, ménage, sex buddies, scarf play, spanking, and polyamory, to mention a few.

Romance with two people who only ever have sex with each other? We like that too, and we’ve got some coming out later this year, but this isn’t one of them. Here’s a taste of Kitty and Jared’s repartee—they’re at Arlington Park Race Track. How far will they go in public?

EXCERPT

“What have you two been up to,” Jared asked, “besides food gathering?”

“Conspiring.”

“Conspiring how to make me rock hard?” he whispered in her ear as she slid in front of him to take the seat on the other side.

“Of course.” Kitty batted her eyelashes. “Isn’t that the point?”

“Do you know you have the sexiest damn feet?”

“Uh huh.” She slapped his hand off her thigh. “You’ve told me before. And we have a much larger crowd today, so be a good boy—for a change—if you can.”

He leaned away from her and chortled, then glanced over at the tote board. “It’d be a lot easier to be a good boy if you weren’t so intent on being a naughty girl.” He gave her a crooked smile and laid half the Daily Racing Form across her lap.

She scowled at him when she felt his fingers toying with the hem of her skirt, which had ridden half way up her thigh. “If you persist on being bad, I’ll have to spank you when we get back home.”

He withdrew his hand from under the newspaper and leaned over to whisper in her ear. “Is that a promise?”

BLURB

Bad boy meets bad girl. Is there anything more?

Passionate, hard working and every inch a business woman, Chicago realtor Kitty Paige likes her sex raw and edgy, and sees no reason to limit herself to just one man. Never married and not quite forty, the striking blonde has successfully raised her daughter, Susan, and is already pushing her new-found freedom to the limits.

Wealthy commodities middle-man and race horse owner Jared Jacobs is father of the best man at Susan’s wedding. He is smitten by the vision in yellow who exudes sex as she escorts her daughter down the aisle. Also single, the handsome mustached California ranch owner with mischievous eyes views his sex life as a series of splendid love affairs, and sets out to make Kitty next on the list.

Together and apart, their chemistry is explosive, and their sparkling repartee and steamy sex catch both partners by surprise. Jared is first to recognize he’s fallen in love. When Kitty panics, can Jared finesse his every move and reel her in?

My Sexy Stranger ~ He’s been vouched for #MSS172 #MFRWAuthor

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday!

This week’s theme is My Sexy Stranger.

This stranger has been vouched for. Maggie Anderson’s insurance broker, an old family friend, takes a pretty dim view of her scheme to raise race horses on the family farm she’s inherited, but he doesn’t want to see her fail. He refers her to a trainer who’s down on his luck after being unfairly accused in a racetrack scandal.

Readers of Riders Up: Book One can vouch for Ed Harrington, too, though they probably didn’t like him in Cassie’s Hope. Cocky and annoying, he vied with Clint for Cassie’s affections, and was briefly under suspicion for being the one who drugged her horse, though cleared in the end. But he’s fallen on hard times since then, and Maggie finds him in a Des Moines flophouse. In spite of her misgivings, she offers him a job, but she doesn’t expect to ever see him again.

Hang onto the land – but at what cost? Feisty widow hires ace racehorse trainer to salvage her family’s heritage. Can they survive escalating threats to life and limb?

EXCERPT

“Mom. Mom!” shouted the smallish tow-headed boy dashing up the porch steps.

“What is it, Johnny? You’d think the devil was chasing you.” She’d never understand why boys always rushed around so.

Johnny skidded to a halt before her while the screen door banged loudly behind him.

“Somebody’s coming, Mom.”

“Who?”

“Don’t know. The truck ain’t familiar,” the boy drawled.

“Isn’t,” both mother and sister corrected.

Johnny rolled his eyes. “There he comes now.”

Everyone on the porch looked toward the driveway as an old faded green pick-up lumbered toward the gravel patch where Maggie’s car and truck were parked. She didn’t recognize the man getting out of the truck.

The man stood tall in western boots, clean Levis, and a white dress shirt, with an ancient feed mill cap dipped low over his eyes.

Unable to make out his features clearly, Maggie rose to welcome the stranger.

As he rapped on the screen door, he said dryly, “Afternoon, Mrs. Anderson. It took a while for me and Mabel to figure out your directions.” With those few words, Ed Harrington doffed his cap. A hint of a smile tugged at his mouth. His gray eyes remained cool and guarded.

Maggie’s mouth fell wide open and her heart skipped a beat or two. He was standing there like an apparition. Was this really the malnourished man she’d last seen stumbling down a Des Moines sidewalk?

BLURB

During an oppressive Iowa summer of drought and farm foreclosures, widowed Maggie Anderson makes a bold decision: She’ll merge her love of horses and her family’s three hundred and twenty acres into a horse farm and try her hand at nearby Prairie Meadows Race Track, where racing purses have just been augmented by the recently added casino gambling.

Down on his luck after being falsely accused in a racing scandal and banned from training, former Arlington Race Track trainer Ed Harrington has skulked home to Des Moines to drown his sorrows and wait for the dust to clear. He’s unprepared for the piercing robin’s-egg-blue eyes of pint-sized Maggie Anderson, who finds him at a flophouse and offers him a job. Can he pull himself together and meet the challenge?

As the two forge a tumultuous working partnership, they soon discover someone is out to get Maggie’s farm and will stop at almost nothing to force her off the land. Can they find and stop the culprit before someone is killed? Can they survive the far greater danger unleashed by the raw passion simmering just beneath the surface of their relationship?

Heartfelt with mystery and hope…made me cry.” Donna H., Amazon, Five Stars

In anticipation of our upcoming romantic suspense release this March, here’s another snippet from our romantic suspense, The Heist. Kara’s attending a conference in Chicago…

A heist? A murder? It’s villain’s choice.

EXCERPT

“I’m afraid I already have a dinner commitment. I’m on a conference committee,” Kara explained. “If you come by my hotel around nine o’clock, you could help tuck me in for the night.”

“I see,” Ted responded. “And do I get to stay an hour, or will you require more of my services than that?”

“No need to get pissy about it,” she snapped. “We can always wait until the next night if you prefer. I don’t have any dinner plans then. As for time limits—you can stay the night if you want. We might even have time for breakfast in bed. But I have to be at a meeting by eight thirty. Does any of this work for you?”

“I’ll make it work. I’m a little surprised I get to stay the night.”

“By the time I’m done with you, I doubt you’ll have the strength to crawl out of the hotel. And that way we get to enjoy waking each other up in the morning.”

“Maybe you won’t want to be around me early in the morning. I’m told I can be a bear.”

“Maybe I’m better at waking up a man than your other women are.”

Sexy Suspense #MySexySaturday #MFRWAuthor

We’re getting excited for our next romantic suspense, scheduled for release in mid March. Romantic suspense is where we got our start, until an editor’s comment that we write sexual tension well led us to venture into the steamy side with our erotic romance releases. But we’ve never forgotten our roots.

Here’s a taste of our first romantic suspense release – the very first fiction we wrote together!

High stakes, a fiery Irish redhead, her stunning racehorse, and a fiercely loyal rancher

EXCERPT

Shaking her head, Cassie grabbed a hoof pick from her back pocket, lifted one of Hope’s front hooves, and began extracting dirt and pebbles.

“Nice lookin’ filly.”

Cassie groaned at the strange deep voice and the too-familiar line. Couldn’t men anywhere be a little more original?

Dropping the hoof, Cassie glanced across Hope’s back and gasped. The deeply tanned hunk behind the voice had shoulders that stretched taut a pale yellow polo shirt covered, in part, with a thin buckskin vest. The wide cowboy buckle appeared unnecessary to hold up well contoured Levi’s. A sweat-stained brown Stetson, tipped low, cast a light shadow across his facial features. His worn boots were those of a working man. This was no drugstore cowboy.

He stepped closer. She could make out a scowl. Dark eyes snapped a foreboding anger. Raven black hair framed chiseled features, searing them into Cassie’s brain. Her toes curled involuntarily. She rubbed Hope’s coat vigorously. Who the hell was he? And to top it off, he didn’t even seem to notice her. His eyes appraised only the horse.

“Thanks,” she mumbled, ducking down by Hope’s flank.

The handsome stranger walked around the horse. “Very nice,” he drawled at last.

REVIEWS

Five stars at Goodreads and Amazon:

“Extremely well written and very entertaining to read. Real life hopes and dreams becoming a reality. This story really moved me.” Donna H.

“I loved Cassie and Clint. These two stubborn, prideful people remind me of Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett…Cassie’s Hope is the first book of a series. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books” Sheila G.

“I took their journey with them. I felt their pain, their sadness, their struggles, and most of all their love. And that is the mark of a truly good book.” Faith H.

BLURB

What happens when a fiercely loyal widowed half-Ute cowboy meets a fiery redhead with an Irish temper to match? Cassidy O’Hanlon – Cassie, to her friends – has set aside her Chicago career for six months to train racehorses for her dad after his stroke.

Furious the interloper has shipped in a ringer from the Chicago circuit to his Wyoming turf, Rancher/trainer Clint Travers sets out to put her in her place. Sparks fly immediately, but after their rocky start, the two quickly forge a passionate relationship, and he follows her to Chicago.

When it becomes clear someone is drugging Cassie’s horse, Clint sets out to solve the mystery, but storms off in a cloud of wounded pride when suspicions turn to him.

Can love trump pride?

Midweek Tease ~ Will he play by the rules? #MWTease #MFRWAuthor

We’re getting ready for a new romantic suspense release in March, so we thought we’d feature one of our already released suspense books. In case you didn’t know, in addition to erotic romance for two, three, or more, we write sizzling romantic suspense. With backgrounds in criminology and counseling, we combine our expertise in the criminal mind, trauma, healing and human nature with a passion for robust sexuality and life-long vitality. Readers can count on our Romantic Suspense line for “warmth, blazing hot sex, and well-developed characters” (Romance Junkies Reviews) as our hero and heroine battle outer threats and inner demons to stay alive and fall in love.

In The Heist, Ted and Kara have a dangerous pair of villains to thwart, but they both still like to tease:

EXCERPT

Ted exhaled slowly. “And do you think I’ll ever get to know you?”

Kara giggled softly. “Not in the way you’re thinking.” She thrust out her chin. “At least not while you’re working this case.”

He took his time to chew on that information. “Fair enough,” he said. He wished he knew what he done or said to disarm her. Maybe it had been the memory of their brief encounter. “Not that I need more incentive to wrap this museum situation up quickly.” He paused. “Do you suppose we’ll be able to hug now and then like friends, now that we’ve cleared the air? Shaking hands seems so stodgy.”

Kara laughed quickly and then peeked over at him with a devastating smile. “As long as you don’t paw my boobs.”

Smiling, he didn’t miss a beat. “How about your rear?”

She arched an eyebrow at him. “That is a different matter. Your large hands did leave a pleasant impression on my ass.”

So she didn’t mind a little flirting even while he worked the case. “Good. I believe in first impressions, and I always like to be clear about the rules of the game. Now maybe you should tell me how you think one or more people entered the museum supposedly without a key.”

She scrunched her mouth. “So do you play by the rules?”

“I didn’t say that. I just like to know what they are.”
