Today’s excerpt from Cherry Tune-Up immediately follows last week’s. Bobbi Jo has just interrupted Jack’s work on his car.

EXCERPT

“So what were you doing under there?” Bobbi Jo pointed at his Firebird. “I like your car. You sure keep it sleek and shiny,” she rattled on.

He’d swear she was nervous about seeing him after all these years.

“Why do you have to use a light to see in broad daylight?”

“You are full of questions.”

She folded her arms under her breasts and then over them.

It occurred to him that she wasn’t used to going without a bra. Was she trying to hide them from him? So why hadn’t she bothered with a bra in the first place? Anyway, her questions were stalling tactics.

He decided to play along. He picked up the light. “This is a timing light. I was getting ready to set her timing. Been tuning up the old girl.” He beamed her a broad smile. “She’s almost cherry, you know. Just about as perfect as when she came off the assembly line, maybe even better. When her stroke is right, she purrs like a kitten.”

“I bet you have that effect on all your women.” Bobbi Jo’s blue eyes conveyed an age-old invitation.

He swallowed hard. “Since when have you become a tease? Come on in the house. I want to get cleaned up. Then you can tell me why you’ve shown up on my doorstep after all these years.”

Today’s Steam is from A Gift for Adam

BLURB

Home and Garden assistant manager Evie Strand has painstakingly embroidered a set of seven thongs as a gag gift for her best friend—only she brought the wrong box to the store Christmas party, and now Adam Grant from Automotive is holding them up for everyone to see: Kiss my…, Tight Fit—could things get any worse? Adam may seem like a total rake, but he can tell Evie’s deeply embarrassed, and he resolves to make it up to her. Who knew where a simple dinner date would lead?

EXCERPT

Toweling herself, Evie watched Adam doing the same, making no attempt to hide his rampant erection. “You seem to have awakened,” she teased. “I thought you were going to fall asleep in the tub a few minutes ago.”

“No chance. I was just resting my eyes wondering what you were planning for us once we got out.”

“Looks like he’s expecting more than going downstairs for dinner.”

Adam dropped the towel to the floor and encircled his cock. “He can be a hopeful fellow.”

Evie wet her lips as Adam skimmed his fingers over his length. “We wouldn’t want to disappoint the fellow.” She let her towel fall to the floor and backed up to sit on the foot of the bed. She delighted in watching his eyes follow her fingers as she toyed with her pussy. “This girl,” she explained, “will need a little attention first. A drawback of a hot tub is she gets a little dry.”

“Would you like a little help?” Adam asked, advancing toward her.

“Thought you might take the hint. A little tongue might help a lot.”

“Just any tongue will do?”

She glanced at his raised eyebrow. “Yours is the only available tongue in the room.”

“I should let you hang for that overwhelming vote of confidence, but we should have you dripping again in a moment or two.”

She lay back as he draped her legs over his shoulders and began to apply his tongue to her labia to achieve their joint goal. His tongue slithered up one side of her pussy and down the other.

Evie twisted her fingers in his hair as he separated her pussy lips and slid his tongue along her slit. She whimpered and flinched as he began probing her depths.

He paused. “I swear I believe we’re going to strike a sweet flow here.”

“You keep that up,” she moaned, “and I know you will. But I’m supposed to be doing you a favor.”

Adam paused again. “And you don’t think this is?”

He was back probing deep in her channel before she could come up with a response, and then she decided why bother? She reached for her clit and tapped her heels against his back.

His tongue dove in and out faster. Her fingers strummed her clit. One of his fingers tapped at her back door. “She’s coming,” she said through clenched teeth.

His muffled chuckles soon became lost in her crashing in on herself. She pulled away from him and curled into a ball. She lost awareness of Adam. He’d served his purpose.

Slowly, she regained awareness enough to know that from time to time he planted a kiss on her butt cheeks. She sighed and turned to crank an eye open to see a purely triumphant male ego. Maybe he did get as much out this as she did.

“No wildcatter ever hit a bigger gusher,” he said with pride.

She shook her head at him as she moved to kneel on her hands and knees. “I think I prefer being seen as a classic car rather than an oil well. It’s your turn.” She grinned and winked at his sudden intake of breath. She waggled her butt. “I do enjoy being submissive now and then.

REVIEWS

Five Stars at Amazon:

“A Gift for Adam is hilarious and a refreshingly new take on the old “opposites attract” formula. I have to admit that laughing until my eyes water and then immediately squirming in my seat from the “heat” of the next scene is a new experience for me…a powerfully good read… truly brilliant comedic rhythm and delivery.

This was an awesome fun and exciting book. A definite must read!

First in line is A Gift for Adam

EXCERPT

How could Evie be such an idiot? She’d wrapped so many Christmas presents late last night, it had never occurred to her that the two packages looked so similar on the outside.

To her dismay, she’d drawn Adam Grant’s name for the annual gift exchange. She hadn’t given it much thought once she’d decided to give him a tie.

Evie blinked as he rummaged through his gift. “No,” she muttered softly, when he held up a second thong – this  one, like the last, had hand-stitched lettering.

She should know; she’d painstakingly hand-lettered seven thongs for Christie, as a joke. She doubted Christie would actually wear any of them, but they’d each gone out of their way during the past six seasons to surprise each other with something that was outlandishly sexy. She had to admit  this year.

Adam held high the pink Tuesday thong. He could hardly read it aloud for breaking up with laughter. “Tuesday: Wish you were…?” The question mark below the lettering left little room for confusion about the intent—it would nestle comfortably over the wearer’s mound.

Erotic Romance

Just Released! Accidental Contact ~ Sapphic short story by @AdrianaKraft #LGBGTQ#LesbianFiction #SapphicFiction #EroticRomance #NewYorkCity #Snowbound #New Release #AgeGap #99cents #MFRWAuthor

What romantic pairings do you love to read? Straight f/m? Bisexual f/f/m? Lesbian f/f? I’m half of the writing duo Adriana Kraft, and we love writing (and reading) all these pairings. Our newest release is a sapphic short story we wrote for an anthology over a decade ago, then revised and updated to release under our indie imprint. Is it really erotic romance? It’s definitely erotic, featuring one of my favorite f/f scenes as Natalie is caught between her fears and her desires in the middle of the night. Since it’s a short story, I’d call it happy-for-now, with a promising future.

BOOK INFORMATION

Accidental Contact, By Adriana Kraft
Release date: November 3, 2023
Genre: Erotic Romance
Length: Short Story
Pairing: FF
Tropes: Cougar Story, New York City, Snowbound, Just One Bed

BLURB

Natalie and the much younger Bridgette are real estate agents who’ve often traveled together for business seminars. Now they’re snowbound in New York City in a hotel room with only one bed. Will Natalie dare to make her move?

EXCERPT

Chapter One

Sitting in bed with the covers pulled up to her neck, Natalie Powers glanced up at the sound of her roommate’s voice.

“It’s already snowing.” Bridgette Allen ran the brush through her long blonde hair and glanced over at the bed. “Think we’ll make it out of here in the morning?”

Natalie tried to decipher the younger woman’s soft smile. Was Bridgette disappointed at the prospect of being stuck with her in New York City an extra day or two? “Doesn’t look promising.” She muted the TV. “If the weatherman’s right and the City gets ten to fifteen inches—plus wind—there probably won’t be any planes flying. I’ll check in the morning, but I’ll be surprised if we get out of here at all tomorrow. I’m sorry. Did you have a big weekend planned back home?”

“Don’t be sorry. It’ll be fun getting caught here for a day or two.” Bridgette’s voice suddenly sounded brighter. “Maybe we can walk over to Rockefeller Center and watch the skaters. Whatever we do, let’s not mope around worrying about finding a flight.” She set down the hairbrush and puckered her lips at her reflection in the mirror. “I like to believe everything happens for a reason. Maybe we both deserve a mini vacation.”

“You may be right.” Natalie yawned. “Three days listening to lectures has been grueling.”

Bridgette turned to face Natalie, brows slightly raised and a smile threatening the corners of her mouth.

Natalie couldn’t resist a smile in return. “I’ll try to be upbeat about our plight. We won’t get back to Chicago until the airports open.”

“So…” Bridgette checked the buttons on her powder-blue silk pajamas while brushing a piece of fluff off the gentle rise of a breast. “We might as well enjoy ourselves.”

“Maybe we could visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art,” Natalie said, trying to keep the mood light while Bridgette settled under the covers. “I haven’t been there for a couple years.”

Erotic Romance

“That is you, isn’t it?” #EroticRomance #LGBTQ #MFRWHooks

For Book Hooks today I’m reaching back to one of the very first erotic romances Mr. Kraft and I ever published: Cherry Tune-Up. It was first released in 2007, then revised, updated, and released under our indie imprint in 2013.

Welcome to MFRW Hooks, where the authors of Marketing for Romance Writers
share snippets from their stories to entice you into wanting more.
Be sure to click on the links at the end to travel!

Our nickname for this NASCAR-themed erotic romance novella while we were writing it was “The Hunk, the Babe and the Car.” Jack Day is simply to die for, and we had a blast inventing all the luscious ways he finds to postpone the inevitable moment he’s convinced will make her leave him.

Here’s a first peek at Jack:

EXCERPT

Cussing softly, Jack Day tugged on the socket wrench. The rusted nut gave way and Jack grinned. Once again, strength and oil had overcome the erosion of time. He was nearly ready to pop a rebuilt clutch and starter into his 1968 Firebird. Then he’d check the engine’s timing.

He stretched out his legs and groaned from the sudden ache in his muscles. The Beasley twins hadn’t left until mid-morning. Maybe he was getting too old for all-night celebrations.

“Is anybody under there?”

Jack startled at the sound and hit his head on the metal frame. “Damn!” With all the tools strewn about and his legs sticking out, wasn’t it obvious?

He glanced toward the front of the car and saw two feet peeking out from sandals under two shapely, well-tanned legs. The feminine voice had an oddly familiar ring to it, but he couldn’t place it.

He rolled out and sat up halfway to peer at the intruder. Immediately, he took off his Highway-Thirty-Seven Racetrack hat, rose to his feet, and folded his arms across his chest. “Well, I’ll be damned. That is you, isn’t it, Bobbi Jo?”

“It’s me.” Her voice was soft and shy. “How are you, Jack?”

“How am I? Shocked. It’s been how long? A decade, maybe.” Jack pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped perspiration from his eyes. “Let me take a look at you, Bobbi Jo.” She’d always been tiny, and he was glad her flowing blonde hair hadn’t changed color. He tried not to stare too hard at his childhood friend’s breasts. They’d filled out quite nicely—not too big and not too small. He couldn’t ignore pebbled nipples peeking through a mesh halter-top. Bobbi Jo Martin wore no bra, and that surprised the hell out of him.

“Like what you see?” Bobbi Jo’s voice cracked with emotion. She turned around slowly.

Jack wasn’t bashful about taking in that view. The black mini-skirt accentuated well-turned thighs and calves, but his eyes were drawn to her butt. His breathing stalled. Shapely wasn’t an adequate description. He might be able to balance his coffee cup on her rump. It was an ass that begged to be caressed. He willed his hands to remain at his side.

Bobbi Jo faced him and gave him a small smile, her voice still timid. “Do I meet with your approval?”

God, how he’d loved kissing those soft lips when she’d turned thirteen. He’d never quite tasted anything like them before or since. But they were uniquely Bobbi Jo, and he hadn’t realized how much he’d missed them until now. Belying her external caution, her eyes contained an undecipherable sparkle. “You look super, Bobbi Jo.” He reached out a finger and grazed her cheek, leaving a smudge. “Oops, sorry.” He backed away, retrieved his handkerchief and dabbed at the dark stain on her cheek. “It’s just so good to see you.”

Bobbi Jo laughed. “Don’t worry. It’ll come off. And it’s good to see you, too.”

She hesitated and took a tiny step backward, but then she drew herself up and stood her ground. She was screwing up her courage about something—but what? Any other woman dressed like she was had only one thing in mind, but he didn’t think Bobbi Jo had come all the way from Boston, unannounced, to jump his bones.

Erotic Romance

New Release! Serpent’s Kiss By LisabetSarai @lisabetsarai #Paranormal #Shifters #Mayan #Mythology #Guatemala #FatedMates #Tikal #Ritual #Quetzlcoatl #Reincarnation #Apocalypse

Embracing the Shadows

What makes paranormal romance so popular? I’ve been pondering this question for a while. Readers, it seems, are happy to consume as many tales about vampires, shape shifters, ghosts and psychics as we authors can produce. You’d think that they’d get bored, but that doesn’t seem to happen. Why not?

I’ve got a theory. We’re all tempted by the dark side.

The realms of paranormal romance are vast, but most books offer characters with dual natures, torn between normal humanity and―otherness. The “other” aspect conveys special powers―unnatural strength, heightened sensation, hidden knowledge―but always at a price. The characters suffer because of their power. Blood-drinkers and half-beasts are ravaged by conscience because they maim or kill. Immortals bear the weight of lonely, isolated centuries and the pain of watching mortal companions wither and die.

In my novella Fin d’Espoir, vampire Etienne de Rémorcy haunts the forest around the ruined plantation of his former mistress, guilty, bitter and alone. He has sworn to never again taste human blood, but when the woman he rescues begs him to take her, he cannot resist. My prescient hero Kyle in At the Margins of Madness can see the future but the fury of his visions drives him insane. In my new release Serpent’s Kiss, Jorge Pélikal is the incarnation of an ancient god but each time he makes love to his human mate he comes close to killing her.

In the paranormal genre, power and darkness go hand in hand. Yet somehow, we are attracted to the darkness. We brush the suffering aside; we want to feel the power. A vampire isn’t sexy when he’s fighting against his blood craving.  Only when he sweeps his victim into his arms and buries his fangs in her flesh does he make us breathless and moist.

How many books have you read where the human hero or heroine willingly submits to “the change”, the transformation that will make them “other” as well? How many characters, in contrast, manage to resist the pull of the dark side?  Not many. Normal mortal life seems absurd, bland and empty after you’ve tasted power. This is especially true because sex on the dark side in erotic romance is always more intense, more extreme, transcending the limits that bind ordinary humans.

Even a villain with supernatural powers tempts us. A well-written antagonist should invite enough identification that the reader can understand what moves him to do evil. The best bad guys are ambiguous, able to justify their deeds so well that they draw our sympathy. They dazzle us with their logic and their beauty, until we can’t see their wickedness. Lucifer still looks like an angel as he bargains for your soul. Stefan Aries, my villain in At the Margins of Madness, is handsome and brilliant enough to make Kyle want him, despite his being a murderer. Jorge’s evil twin Teodoro Remorros is suave, handsome, and terribly convincing as he tries to persuade Elena to abandon Jorge and the world he’s trying to save.

We’re drawn to the dark side, I think, because it’s an escape. Sometimes the real world leaves us feeling so powerless―we can’t help wanting the ability to take control, to bend the world to our will the way our paranormal characters do. Who wouldn’t want to leave the dirty dishes and the unpaid bills behind and slip away into the night, to slink through the shadowy streets scenting for blood or to howl, unfettered, at the moon?

The dark side calls to us in paranormal romance. Every time we open a new book, we flirt with the possibility of ecstatic surrender.

BLURB

When a woman atoning for past sins heals the human avatar of an ancient god, she’s drawn into a perilous dance of destiny and desire.

From the first, Dr. Elena Navarro senses that the wounded man she discovers outside the gate of her rural clinic is not an ordinary mortal. With his chest ripped open, Jorge Pélikal still demonstrates unnatural strength and power. Elena is irresistibly attracted to Jorge, although he warns her their coupling could open the gates of chaos and cost her life. Despite his dire predictions, they fall in love. Gradually Elena comes to understand that Jorge is a supernatural player in a cosmic drama that will determine the fate of the earth and of mankind—and that even if he triumphs in his apocalyptic struggle with his nemesis, she may lose him forever.

Note: Serpent’s Kiss was previously published by Totally Entwined. This new edition has been re-edited, revised and expanded.

Reader Advisory: This book may not be appropriate for individuals with a fear of snakes.

EXCERPT

Elena surveyed his naked body. Her eyes lingered on his sculpted thighs, his narrow hips, the rippled planes of his belly. His penis drooped against one thigh, shiny with her juices, thick and meaty even in its quiescent state. Her mouth watered as she stared at it. Perhaps she could rouse him with an intimate kiss.

On the other hand, he may already have had more sex than was good for him. Elena flicked her gaze up to his wounded torso, checking that her stitches had not worked loose.

She gasped in wonder and horror. His chest was perfectly smooth, the swell and dip of his pectorals unblemished by any flaw.

The terrible gash she had treated only twenty-four hours ago was completely gone. There no signs of the two dozen stitches she’d inflicted on him. There wasn’t even a scar.

She shook her head, unwilling to believe what she was seeing. It couldn’t be true. It was impossible. Yet here was the evidence, physical evidence that her rational doctor’s mind could hardly ignore.

Who was this man?

EXCERPT

Chapter One

Bobbi Jo Martin hung back in the shadows under the Highway Thirty-Seven Racetrack stands. Acrid smoke, fumes and dust from a long night of racing swirled in the hazy light but couldn’t entirely block her view of her childhood best friend. There he was, Jack Day, strutting toward a red pickup with a buxom brunette hanging on each arm. She cringed—they must be the spoils that went to the winner of the feature race.

Deflated, Bobbi Jo shuffled toward her rental car. She’d had no contact with Jack for nearly ten years, but she just knew he’d help her with her current problem. When they were kids, he had never, ever let her down. She glanced one last time at the two women scrambling into the pickup. A solution would have to wait.

Her skin chilled, then suddenly turned hot. She needed him, damn it. She slid behind the wheel of the car, started the engine and rested her head on the steering wheel.

Bobbi Jo had a surprise for Jack—but would he welcome it? He had to relieve her of her virginity. Her childhood sweetheart had to teach her how to be a captivating lover—and there wasn’t much time. Two weeks from tonight would be her wedding night, and she had to be skilled at lovemaking by then.

She banged her fist against the steering wheel. Why did he have to be involved with those two women tonight, of all nights? She’d hoped to set up a chance meeting in a public place. Now she’d have to go directly to him.

Would he want her? Goosebumps pebbled her arms. She couldn’t let him reject her. He had what she wanted.

BOOK INFORMATION

Accidental Contact, By Adriana Kraft
Release date: November 3, 2023
Genre: Erotic Romance
Length: Short Story
Pairing: FF
Tropes: Cougar Story, New York City, Snowbound, Just One Bed

BLURB

Natalie and the much younger Bridgette are real estate agents who’ve often traveled together for business seminars.

Now they’re snowbound in New York City in a hotel room with only one bed. Will Natalie dare to make her move?

EXCERPT

For three months, Natalie had eagerly anticipated this trip. She’d bought a pair of pink silk pajamas, wanting to feel a little more presentable and desirable. Pink had always gone well with her dark hair. And she’d come to believe that Bridgette’s choice of silk pajamas was perfect—not too seductive, not too revealing—but classy. Not klutzy like her old sleepwear that resembled sweatpants and gym clothes. On top of that, the feel of silk against flesh was incredibly sensuous.

At least she didn’t have to guess whether Bridgette was into women. She’d never tried to hide that fact. She’d even bemoaned not having found a partner with whom she really wanted to share a lot of time.

Natalie balled her fingers into fists. She’d made the effort to tidy up her pubic hair just in case. She swallowed hard. She couldn’t risk rejection. She’d done all she could. It was up to destiny now. What had Bridgette said? Everything happens for a reason. Maybe the blizzard was heaven sent just for her—just for her and Bridgette.

She blinked back tears. Even a blizzard wouldn’t be enough to fuel her courage. She dozed. Morning couldn’t come too quickly.

EXCERPT

“Are you ready for me to shut off the TV?”

“Yes. I’ve heard enough chatter by pundits.”

“Me, too.” Natalie hit the off button, set the remote aside, and rolled onto her side to face the wall. The mattress shifted as Bridgette turned to face the opposite wall. “Good night,” Natalie murmured.

“Good night. I’m looking forward to being snowbound with you in New York.”

Closing her eyes, Natalie didn’t respond. She concentrated on breathing in and out. The predicted blizzard was a pleasant surprise that might prove to be the tipping point.

She’d done all she could do. It was up to fate now. She wouldn’t risk being rejected by her younger colleague. They’d traveled together several times representing their firm at realty conferences. She’d been surprised how comfortable they were as  travel companions, respecting each other’s routines. Bridgette chattered too much, but then Bridgette had probably had to adjust to some of Natalie’s idiosyncrasies, too.

Usually they shared a room with two beds. When they’d checked in at the front desk, Natalie had somewhat berated the clerk for their sleeping arrangements—but she was the one who’d explicitly requested one queen bed when making the reservation. She’d also anticipated correctly that given the size of the conference, there’d be no available rooms with two beds.

Natalie wished she could make the next overture, but she couldn’t. Pride intervened. She had no idea whether the twenty-six-year-old lying next to her would be interested in a forty-year-old divorcee who hadn’t been with a woman since college.

Will Natalie dare to make her move? #MFRWSteam #EroticRomance #LGBTQ

Welcome to the MFRW Steam Hop,
where the authors of Marketing for Romance Writers
entice you with steamy excerpts from their erotic romance stories.

Scroll to the end for more of this week’s tempting excerpts.

For this month’s steam, I’m sharing from my forthcoming sapphic short story, Accidental Contact.

EXCERPT

Groggily, Natalie peeked at the red numerals on the hotel clock. Midnight—they’d only been in bed for an hour.

Her eyes blinked wide open. There was a hand on her breast. She wiggled her fingers. The hand was definitely not hers. She held her breath, taking stock of her situation.

Steady breathing warmed the back of her neck. She was in danger of becoming intoxicated with Bridgette’s scent. She squirmed her bottom only to discover something solid—Bridgette’s torso, curved around hers. Fortunately, they were about the same height.

Natalie couldn’t discern whether Bridgette was awake or if she was sleepwalking in bed. She rechecked the clock. It had taken her nearly five minutes to assess her situation, and she still wasn’t sure what was happening. Her breathing faltered. She did know her nipples were growing incredibly restless.

Shutting her eyelids, she withdrew into her body to concentrate on one particular nipple. The one Bridgette’s thumb lay within an inch of.

Careful not to move any other part of her body, Natalie placed her hand over Bridgette’s. Natalie tensed, but Bridgette didn’t jerk away. The breathing on the tiny hairs of her neck remained steady.

Cautiously, Natalie moved their hands lower until Bridgette’s fingers curled around her boob. Arching back her neck, Natalie encouraged those fingers to curl tighter around the silk fabric concealing her breast. Reflexively, she nestled her butt closer to Bridgette, and Bridgette’s body undulated slightly, responding to the accidental contact.

Natalie lay for long minutes not daring to move. She tried to calm raging emotions. Finally, she resorted to breathing in tandem with Bridgette. That worked. She relaxed a bit.

She became keenly aware of Bridgette’s breasts crushed against her back. She blinked—they must’ve been there all along. She’d been so needy about her own breasts she hadn’t even noticed Bridgette’s. Where was Bridgette’s other hand? Without turning to look, Natalie decided it must be somewhere on the pillow above her head.

The room had suddenly turned incredibly hot. Natalie smacked her lips. Taking great care not to disturb Bridgette’s side of the covers, she inched the blankets down nearly to her waist. The cooler air did nothing to quell the fire raging inside her.
