EXCERPT

Set-Up: Michael has just returned home to Ashland and started working for his father.

Michael Jarvis leaned against the doorjamb of the vaulted-ceiling living room, admiring the sway of Brenda Tower’s rear end as she sprayed primer over its ten-foot walls. Once she was done painting, he’d turn to some of the final sanding of the spiral staircase. His dad had sent him over to the new house on the pretense that he was too busy elsewhere to finish it.

Grimacing at the tall, lithe woman dressed in white paint-spattered coveralls, Michael knew his father wanted him to connect as quickly as possible with the painter he’d often described as quite the lady. His dad had always been a romantic when it came to him and Brenda. Michael sighed heavily. It had taken a near-death experience for him to recognize his feelings—but he had no clue if she’d welcome his interest after he’d rebuffed her years earlier.

Brenda hadn’t noticed him standing in the doorway, but he was pretty sure she couldn’t hear him above the sound of the sprayer. He waited.

BLURB

When war hero Michael Jarvis returns to Ashland, Wisconsin, he doesn’t plan to stay—he’s undercover, investigating a possible sex trafficking ring on the Great Lakes. But he does want to sample the pesky girl next door he always turned down—and it wouldn’t hurt if she’d clear up a few mysteries of her own.

Successfully established as an interior house painter, Brenda Tower finally has her act together as a single mom—but it hangs by a thread, a secret she’ll guard with her life. The return of her youthful crush Michael Jarvis threatens to unravel everything.

Jealousy has inflamed Brett Hill’s hatred of Michael and Brenda for as long as he can remember. Revenge will be so sweet.

When the secrets break open, can Michael and Brenda find the courage to trust each other, or will revenge and betrayal triumph?

EXCERPT

Meg waited until Derek was out of earshot, then directed her attention to the eager, bubbly blonde. “I don’t usually get involved with married couples. Unless I got them together in the first place.”

April’s smile broadened. “I knew I was right about you. Derek thought I was crazy.”

“I like women and guys, if that’s what you mean. But as I said, I don’t usually get involved with married couples. So what are you looking for? A little diversion?”

April winced. “More than that. Not a long-term relationship—I have that with Derek.” Her fingers curled around a napkin, showing the first sign of tension. “We’ve lost the sexual spark that used to be so important to both of us.”

“Ah. That explains a lot.” Meg glanced toward the exit. “So you’re much more interested in rediscovering this spark than your husband is?”

April shrugged. “I don’t think he knows how to go about finding it. He refuses everything I come up with.”

“But you convinced him to come on this cruise?”

Nodding, April said, “It wasn’t an easy sell. I guess he finally bought the idea that it would be easier to have an adventure onboard a ship than in Chicago. Less dangerous in the long run.”

“Possibly. So why did you pick me out of all the women who are looking for action, much like you? This is my third cruise. You and your husband aren’t as unusual as you might think.”

“You’ve helped others on cruises?”

“I didn’t say that.” She paused. “I’ve had my hands rather full with Clark. But I must admit you’re the first person to approach me so directly. You’re not into a lot of games. I like that.”

Blurb:
Previously released under the title Sexual Healing in the Coming In Hot Boxed Set.

Zoe’s Mates has been edited with some new material.
Paramedic Zoe Whitaker is set to become engaged to Saratoga Falls Hospital’s Chief of Staff Derek Barnes. But when his twin brother Liam returns with his lover Brent Taylor, Zoe begins to think she’s with the wrong twin.

Liam and Brent came back from Ravana for one reason only, to claim Zoe Whitaker.

Excerpt:
“What are you doing to me?” she asked them.
“Making you ours,” Brent brushed the hair from her face. “You’re our mate, we’ve waited too long to take what is ours. What has always been ours.” Lifting her by the waist, Brent laid her across the padded bench in front of the couch. Kneeling between her thighs, Brent opened her lower lips, before sinking his tongue inside her.
“BRENT,” she cried out. Damn, that felt good, she thought, opening her thighs wider, her hands going to Brent’s head, pressing him closer.

Suddenly Zoe was glad that Derek wasn’t willing to do this for her. It seemed right that Brent and Liam were the first ones to give her the experience she’d always craved. “I love this table, it gives us the right angle to do certain things,” Liam said.

Zoe’s head lowered, Liam’s cock near her lips. Mentally licking her lips in anticipation. She just hoped she did it right, “Liam, I’ve never,” she started to admit.

You’ve never sucked cock before?” asked Liam. “Derek is even dumber than I thought. I’ve been waiting for the day that I can see your sexy lips wrapped around my cock. Sliding in and out of your mouth, down your throat.

”“OH FUCK ,” she yelled. Her body stretched, never in a million years did she think it would ever feel this good.

Here are the opening lines of our romantic suspense The Painter is a Lady:

EXCERPT

Prologue

Pulling her flannel nightgown tighter around her frame, Brenda Tower stared out her bedroom window at Lake Superior in the gray distance. The waves must be twenty or thirty feet high for her to see them through the dawn haze. Had the late November storm awakened her? And why did she have such a feeling of dread? She’d always loved the lake – swimming, fishing, picnicking and playing on calm sunny days, and thrilling to its power when she watched it storm.

A fragment of her dream flashed before her eyes, sending a chill down her spine. Startled, she grasped for more detail, but it remained just out of reach, though filled with foreboding.

Lake, fishing boat, too many people, shouting, gunshots.

Must have been reading too many thrillers.

She’s not sure what she’s looking for, but she knows she’s found it as soon as she spots the delectable sprite of an actress who stars in the ship’s daily shows.

Derek is stunned by his wife’s brash pursuit of the hot young actress. Must he match her boldness to keep her from leaving him?

EXCERPT

Derek reached for his coffee cup and hesitated. “And I’m supposed to believe this seven-year itch thing will be worked through on this cruise. No roving eyes when we get back to Chicago?”

April shook her head. “Hopefully I’ll have a re-energized husband by then.”

“I’m not the energizer bunny,” Derek said, looking glum and resigned.

“I’ve noticed. Come on, this is about both of us. Let’s enjoy our cruise. There was a time when you couldn’t get enough of me. Wouldn’t you like to have those days back?”

Looking trapped, Derek nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. I would, but this doesn’t seem like the way to do that.”

“I think it is.” April swallowed. “This isn’t just about you, Derek. I have to find my spark again. We’ve both allowed the sex part of our marriage to fizzle. I no longer believe you and I can find it on our own. I think another woman can help us both—at least, the right woman.”

“And you think Meg the actress is that woman?”

“She’s worth a shot. You know I’m not threatening divorce. But I’m not willing to give up on our sex lives just because I’m about to turn thirty, either. I don’t expect to ever have to give up on sex, but that means we have to do some things to give it some new life.”

“You read too many romance novels.”

“Maybe.” She dragged a fingernail along his wrist. “But I’m not ready to give up on us. Now I’m going over there and introducing myself.”

His eyebrows shot up.

“You can watch, if that suits you better.”

EXCERPT

Set Up: Meg has agreed to April’s proposal to help put some sizzle back in her marriage. Now Meg and her current main squeeze, Clark, are seated around a table in a dark corner of a shipboard lounge with April and her husband, Derek. Meg’s already sneaked her hand under April’s short skirt…

“Does your wife come noisily in public places?” Meg asked.

Derek shook his head.

“No, she doesn’t make noise?”

“No, she doesn’t come in public places.”

Meg’s laughter was high-pitched. “You think. From the feel of her panties, I’d say she’s already creaming. Aren’t you, April?”

April nodded. She felt her eyes go wide as Meg’s fingers wiggled against her bikini-clad mound.

“Do you think we should put her to the test?” Meg asked Derek.

He shook his head. “What I think doesn’t seem to matter.”

Meg shrugged. “It’s your call, girl.”

April chewed on her bottom lip and eased Meg’s finger under her panties.

Meg lifted her glass with her other hand and toasted her drinking partners. “I believe we’ll have an answer soon enough. Your wife is dragging my fingers along her very wet, slick vulva. I’m not doing a thing, but your wife is fucking herself with my fingers.”

April breathed through her nose as she tried to rock discreetly against the finger Meg had inserted in her pussy. “Help me,” she whispered at Meg.

“Your wife wants my help. Can you believe that?” Without looking at April, Meg dragged a finger across April’s clit. On the third pass, April lurched forward and hunched over the table. She gasped for air. Meg withdrew her fingers.

“May I help you?” their waiter asked. “Are you seasick?”

April tried to focus on the concerned man. “No,” she managed to say. “I’m fine. I must’ve swallowed my drink wrong.”

“That happens. Would anyone like anything else?”

Meg looked around the table and then shook her head. “I think we’ve all had enough for one night.” After the waiter left, she said to Derek, “You’re right. She doesn’t make any noise in public, but she nearly had a stroke trying not to. Maybe we’ll have to work on that.”

Excerpt:

It was a dark place where she found him, with walls so high only a small patch of starlight was visible above, but she was a vampire now. She didn’t need the light, and he, well he had never needed the light, had he? He stood naked with his back to her. He was broad of shoulder. There were white scars like latticework across muscles stretched taut over his shoulder blades. At first she thought they were from a whip, but as she drew nearer, she saw that they were more geometric in form, as though perhaps they were some sort of ancient ceremonial writing. She traced the shapes of them with the tips of her fingers, and his muscles rippled with the sensation. With a start she realized she’d never seen his body before.

“That is because I have none,” came his reply. “Only in dreams can I wear the flesh of my choosing.”

“You’ve worn flesh often enough. I would have thought it was always of your choosing,” she said, making no effort to hide her bitterness.

“It was not my own, though. That pleasure, I have never known.”

“Only in dreams, you say. Then this is a dream.”

“You know that it is.” He didn’t turn to face her but leaned toward her, and she slipped her arms around him and rested her head on the flat of his back. His belly tensed at the touch of her hands, and he caught his breath in a soft moan. “Touch is what I longed for most,” he said. “I thought the lack of it would drive me insane while I languished in my previous prison. But here, with you, I’m closer to touch than I would have thought possible. I do not mind it, you know. It is no hardship to be nestled inside you, close to your heart.”

She released him and took in their surroundings once more. “This is the place I’ve created for you?”

He pulled her arms back around him and sighed with contentment as she laid her head against him once more. “This is how I have decorated. The place you created for me was only the shape of myself, both boundless and infinitesimal. Oh, it did not matter. I could see through your eyes, feel through your flesh, even though it no longer lived as it once did, even though you never spoke to me. I hoped that someday you would.”

“And when I refuse, you come uninvited into my dreams?”

“All dreams are uninvited, Susan, and perhaps this time it is you who have come uninvited into my dream.”

She thought about that for a moment. Was it even possible to visit the dreams of a demon? Did demons even have dreams?

“Susan?”

“Yes?”

“If I had come to you more gently, if I had courted you and companioned you and been patient with you in the ways of your world, would you have loved me?”

“You never gave me that chance.”

Welcome to MidWeek Tease, where authors share tempting snippets to tide you over till the weekend. A huge shout out to author Angelica Dawson for hosting our blog hop every week!

Just nine days away! Today’s tease comes from our upcoming release, April Swings (Meghan’s Playhouse, Book 3).

Think maybe April’s going to heat things up a tad?

EXCERPT

“You know I love you,” April said quickly, covering Derek’s hand with hers. “You don’t doubt that.”

He shook his head. “And I love you, but that doesn’t mean I understand you. You always said you got women out of your system during your college days.”

April felt her cheeks warm slightly. “I thought I did.” She frowned. “You know there hasn’t been anyone since you and I were engaged.” She smiled faintly. “And I got one of the hunkiest guys in the fire department, and a six-year-old daughter I wouldn’t trade for the world.”

“But…”

“But we’ve grown stale. We keep going over old ground. And I’m tired of being taken for granted.”

“You’re not―”

“Hush. We get Sammy set up with her Saturday morning cartoons and then have something that passes in your book as sex.” Her voice rose. “If that’s not being taken for granted, if that’s not being in a rut, I don’t know what is. And I’m going to do something about it.”

“By fucking whoever you can entice to our suite.”

“You don’t have to be crude about it.” April felt the sharpness in her tone and quickly winked at him. “There may be other places that’d work besides our suite.”

New Release: Haylen, by Kate Hill #MFRWAuthor @katehillromance

The demons will be villains, and none will be redeemed. That had been my intention for the Fangs and Fists series when I started writing it. I should have known I wouldn’t stick to it because it goes against my nature. In fiction, I’m usually drawn to the villain and antihero types. If they’re sinister, damaged, or rebellious, I want to know more. I also like shades of gray characters because most of the time people, even in real life, aren’t completely one way or another.

I had intended for the Fangs and Fists demons to be villains only, and then Haylen appeared. He was definitely a bad guy, but not totally. Somehow, despite a long walk down the wrong path, he managed to retain his humanity, even if he didn’t realize it himself. In a way, his bad choices in the past made it possible for him to eventually fight for a good cause.

Have you ever encountered a character who is one of the bad guys but has the potential to change? Who are some of your favorite antiheroes or villains turned hero?

Kate

BLURB

Fangs and Fists 4: Haylen

Faith healer turned resurrection demon, Haylen served the masters for centuries, creating legions of the soulless. By bargaining with the rebels fighting the demon masters, Haylen was freed from a tracking device viciously implanted in his spine and reinforced with evil magic. Now armed with both his demonic powers and his former angelic gift of healing, he can choose his part in a world where good and evil are constantly at war.

Maddy, a young mechanic with magical powers, has studied Haylen’s history and finds the demon fascinating, but she’s even more intrigued by the man he can become. Haylen appears to return her interest, but will the good witch save the demon’s soul, or will he corrupt hers?

A Woman Knows… #MFRWAuthor #Menage #ComingSoon

Welcome to MidWeek Tease, where authors share tempting snippets to tide you over till the weekend. A huge shout out to author Angelica Dawson for hosting our blog hop every week!

Getting excited – we’re less than three weeks away! Today’s tease comes from our upcoming release, April Swings (Meghan’s Playhouse, Book 3).

EXCERPT

“There she is,” April Day whispered to her husband as they shared a late breakfast in the fourth deck restaurant of the cruise ship. “There’s that vivacious girl who does everything in the floor show.”

“You’re infatuated with her,” Derek grumbled. “You’ve been mooning over her for the past two days. Do you even know her name?”

“Meg something, I think.” April thrust out her chin. “Names don’t matter much for what I have in mind.” April inhaled, letting her gaze take in the petite auburn-haired actress. “She’s a woman’s woman. That’s what matters.”

“How do you know that? She’s having breakfast with the guy who directs the show.” Derek chuckled. “She looks like a man’s woman to me.”

Shrugging, April faced her husband. “So, I’m a man’s woman, too. Maybe she’s bi.”

“How can you be so certain?” Derek’s features remained stolid.

“A woman knows.” April sipped her orange juice.
